Good morning!
It is SO WINDY HERE right now. I mean, I guess it gets this windy in Chicago too. But this house is much older than our apartment building. And, also, I don’t think you can hear all the creaks and gusts when you’re on the top floor of a high rise.
Needless to say, I am real happy we use a sound machine to go to sleep. Because I think I would have been a wuss about the wind.
So from here on out, ’til we head back to Chicago, the weather is gonna be pretty bad. But, again, we’re not too mad about it. The weather is a bonus. But the real draw to CA is family.
Speaking of which, Ishu’s Dadi and Babaji are flying in this morning and we are SO EXCITED.
I feel like Ishu’s changed so much in the last few months. And even though we video chat multiple times a week with the family, it’s going to be so much fun for everyone to listen to all the newest Ishu-isms.
He just says and does the funniest things.
Last night, I was sitting on the couch with my laptop. He climbed up onto the couch, crawled onto my lap, and closed the laptop.
“I have something to tell you,” he said. Very seriously.
As I was trying to adjust for him and set aside the computer, he repeated, “I have something to tell you.”
So I put everything aside and look at him and ask, “Okay, what do you want to tell me?”
He pauses. He looks in my eyes. And then he says, “How’s your day?”
Ha.
I looked at Ankur a few days ago and said, “MAN I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH WHEN I CAN SHARE HIM WITH OTHER PEOPLE.” It’s so easy for me to be patient and loving and kind when there are multiple eyes and hands and bodies around to care for this little guy. I mean, I love him endlessly always. But there’s definitely a different sort of feeling in my heart when I get to share the load with the family. When I can just BE with him and not be caught up in all the other things. (That’s the other thing. It’s also been so nice to not have the entire mental load about what to cook for dinner, what to get from the grocery store, what to cook for Ishu, etc.).
I can get used to this life.
Anyway, the wind is picking up again and I need to go hide under the covers with the sound machine on.
Have a happy day!
