September 2025 Reads

Comin’ in late with these because apparently copying and pasting my reviews from Goodreads seemed very complicated for some reason.

But I’m here. Sharing my not-so-many (and not-so-great) September reads. Except for The One. But, that’s mostly cause I’ve never really read a book like that before.

Here are my reviews!

3 out of 5 stars

How Freaking Romantic by Emily Harding:

Beatrice, a law student, finds herself clashing with Nathan, the opposing counsel in her best friend’s messy divorce and, inconveniently, the adjunct professor she has to TA with. But when their rivalry starts sparking into something more, Bea has to decide if she’s ready to invest in this person and put aside her baggage and mental hangups.

Enemies-to-lovers, workplace romance, slow burn.

Beatrice wasn’t the easiest character to root for. Yes, we all carry baggage, but she could be downright mean at times, and that made it hard to connect with her.

Overall, it was a quick, light read, just not one of my top romance picks.

Tell Me What You Did by Carter Wilson:

Poe Webb, host of a hit true crime podcast, is shaken when a guest claims to be her mother’s killer. As past and present collide, she’s forced to confront secrets that could unravel everything.

The short chapters made it a super fast read and definitely a page-turner. But when the twists finally came, they landed a little flat. I found myself wishing for sharper, more satisfying reveals instead of the somewhat “meh” connections we got.

Well, Actually by Mazey Eddings:

Eva Kitt’s career has stalled as she interviews C-list celebrities over hot dogs. One night, she sees her college ex post something and blasts him on social media calling out his bad, shitty communication when they were together in college. Forced into a public dating “redemption” scheme, Eva vows to expose him, but starts to see that he’s really changed.

I normally love a second chance trope, but I wasn’t feeling this one very much. Eva’s walls were up and guarded (and the author does a good job of explaining why that is), but she just seemed like a real mean cat.

All in all, it was an okay read for me. It wasn’t that it was hard to read. It was just very easy to put down.

The One by John Marrs:

Such an interesting read. I haven’t read anything like it before!

A DNA test promises to find your perfect match, but when five people meet their “one,” love proves anything but simple. Secrets and consequences turn soulmates into surprises.

With multiple storylines, short chapters, and a gripping plot, this was an easy, addictive page-turner.

And that’s all folks!

Let’s hope I get more reading in this month! (But not lookin’ likely because for some reason October is BUSY!).

What’re you reading?!
