Good morning and happy Monday!
Even though I’m up pretty early, it’s NOT because I’ve got work this morning. Friday was my last day and I am p-u-m-p-e-d to get this summer started.
Ankur has a week of mandatory classes before they let the students loose for rotations, so we’re up early to head to the gym before he’s gotta go.
But, before we head out, I figured I’d pop in here and share a few pictures from the past few days. (Though if you follow me on Instagram and watched my stories, you probably have a good idea how I spent the weekend).
Friday
Like I said, Friday was my final day at work. I got my co-workers these little succulents as a goodbye gift. I will definitely miss seeing some of those faces each day. But, I’m also so happy to not be tied to a desk from 8-4:30. Behind a computer screen. I’m meant to work with BABIES and help them read and learn and grow!
A few of us also went out to Sauced for lunch, which I loved. Because it’s our favorite place here and I know we are going to miss it a whole lot. Despite the fact that there are a number of yummy pizza places in Knoxville.
I did the final clock-out, hugged my people tight, and then turned in my badge, my laptop, and my keys.
Saturday
We woke up nice and early to head out to Knoxville. Ankur had his COMLEX exam this weekend. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s an all-day (all-consuming) exam. So, we decided to pack the air mattress, our clothes, and our toiletries and made an entire trip out of it.
I dropped him off at the testing center in the morning and then went over to our apartment to unload a few more boxes I brought along. Nicole and Kasey came to keep me company around noon. We went to Panera for lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool.
I was super grateful for their company because when you’re done with all your unpacking and still have 7 hours until your husband’s exam is over, it’s easy to get in your head about ALL the things.
Needless to say, it’s so nice to spend time with people who understand what those feelings are in my head because they feel them too. Because they are right there with me during this crazy journey we call medical school.
Ankur was done around 5:30 so I ran out to go pick him up and bring him back to the apartment. I was excited for him to finally see this place that I have been decorating for the past few weeks.
We went to Seasons – a nearby restaurant – to celebrate with dinner and drinks. It was good, but we were both super eager to get back to the apartment and call it a night.
Sunday
After a good night’s sleep (in our new home!), we got up, did a little gym workout, and then Ankur’s favorite thing – BREAKFAST.
We went to First Watch in Turkey Creek. I know there are a million other brunch places I can choose from, but I keep coming back to this place because it’s SO yummy. And it’s one of those brunch places that leave you feeling full but not disgusting.
They also have this kale tonic juice that I love — made with Fuji apple, cucumber, lemon, and kale.
It’s only a 15-minute drive from our new place so I imagine we will be coming back a few more times in the future.
We also popped into Starbucks because, “when in Knoxville…” (<– though I need to stop saying that because it’s our new home and I will ALWAYS have access to these things now so there’s no reason to store up like I’m a squirrel).
Finally, we ended the day with the Avengers movie. Ankur had me watch the important movies leading up to this one and I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually enjoyed them.
This movie was really good because I’m real invested in all the superheroes and now I’m looking forward to the next one that comes out next year. (<– A sentence that my 20-year old self would never imagine me saying).
We drove back to Harrogate last night after the movie and I was getting a little sentimental about our final few days here.
I’m obviously REALLY excited to be in a city again, around more restaurants and activities, and TEACHING again. But, I accidentally fell in love with this place so it’s going to be bittersweet when we leave.
I guess that’s good though, right?
To quote Winnie the Pooh, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
Questions of the Day:
- Have you seen the new (not-so-new) Avengers movie? What did you think?
- What did you do this weekend? More importantly, what did you eat this weekend?

Aw, that’s so nice you gave your co-workers those succulents. Love the little note! I did a little swimming this weekend, which was nice. Mm…First Watch is really good. I need to go there again sometime soon. The last time I went was this past November, I think. LOL I remember because it was Black Friday. 🙂
I have not seen the new Avengers but I REALLY want to because I’ve seen pretty much all the others (minus Guardians 2 and Black Panther – still need to see those) and I love them. 🙂

Moving and changing jobs always will bring out quite a few emotions, even if the move and the job change is a very good one!
I’m also interested to see how the next Avengers movie will play out…I’m not the biggest superhero fan ever but I am intrigued. They’re fun movies!

Winnie the Pooh always has the best quotes!! I love that one so much <3
And that’s wonderful that your home for the past few years has helped you create so many great memories. Also how sweet that you gave succulents to all of your coworkers! I’m excited about the road ahead and all the delicious breakfasts in your future. It is my favorite meal of the day, too!

Those succulents are so cute. What a thoughtful gift! You always find the best food. I’m working through the Avengers movie and haven’t seen the newest one yet. The best thing I ate this weekend was some pasta salad that I made for a family cookout. It’s become one of our weekly staples. Hope you had a great Monday!
