Good morning from this mama who got over 7 hours of sleep last night!
I don’t even know the last time that’s happened. Or if that’s even happened since Ishaan was born.
I’m sitting here – WITHOUT a cup of coffee – and I feel so alive and alert and rested.
We had a beautiful weekend over here. The weather was great and we spent a lot of time outdoors. Trying to fill up our cups before the dreaded winter.
On Fridays in the summer, this group called the Wiggleworms sets up over at Polk Park by the Navy Pier. And all the babies and nannies and parents come out to watch the performance.
There’s a big grassy area so everyone lays down picnic blankets and the kids all run around and blow bubbles and play together. It’s so fun and it’s FREE! I can’t get over how many things are free and available for kids to do during these summer months.
Anyway, Ishu was pretty pumped to jam to Heads, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. He loves music so it was fun for him to be there. But, after a while, his little body wanted to move move move. So he ran to the back of the grassy area and found some stairs (his newest obsession) and then spent the remainder of the time going up and down, up and down.
We hung out at home for a few hours after that, waiting for Costco to pick up our couch. And then in the late afternoon, we went to the playground where they were handing out free cheesecake for National Cheesecake Day!
They were also having story time so we hung out for that for a little bit. Once story time was over, they did a little arts and crafts. But Ishu’s still too little for that so he just ran around the playground, chasing after birds.
On Saturday, we went to scout out some other couches we found through Facebook Marketplace. (The Costco one was way too big and took up most of our living room). And we scored a pretty great deal with these couches we found on Marketplace.
It makes our living room seem so much more spacious, which is perfect for our little active baby.
After the couches arrived on Sunday, we went to meet up with a sweet family over at Lake Shore East Park. Their little girl, Hannah, is just one month younger than Ishu and they were so cute and smiley and fun together.
After they left, we went to the playground there and Ishu was ALL ABOUT IT because it had little water fountains right in the center of it.
He loves the water so much and now I’ve learned to keep his swim stuff at the bottom of our diaper bag because there are random fountains and splash pads all around the city (and it’s impossible to keep him out of the water!).
The park was right next to a taco place so we got tacos and to-go cocktails and enjoyed them at the park.
It was really such a special weekend. We’ve settled in a little more. We managed to take advantage of the great weather. And we met some new families that we will hopefully continue to hang out with!
Today’s weather is looking great (a high of 73, low of 62!). So Ishu and I will, again, spend most of the day outside. And I will, again, pack his swim trunks and a towel.
Hope you all had a beautiful weekend and I’ll be back over here tomorrow morning, feeling extra weepy, after dropping him to daycare!
Have a happy, HAPPY Monday!
