Good morning!
We had a wonderful weekend over here. I’m loving the fact that Ankur gets (most) weekends off in this specialty. Even during residency.
Which gives us plenty time to explore our new city together!
Friday
On Friday morning, we went back to this brunch place. It’s right next to our favorite playground so we took Ishu there after we ate.
Ishu quickly made some friends and played with their toy cars.
Then, we walked back home and Ankur got ready for work. Ishu took a really, really short nap. I tried to put him back to sleep but he wasn’t having it. So we went out for a walk around the Navy Pier.
His face here is probably a result of the wind. Haha. The further out we walked, the windier it got. It was here, also, where a bird pooped on me.
Thankfully, I’m a mom now so I carry wet wipes wherever I go.
Gross.
We eventually ended up back at playground #2. Where he ate a snack of sand. If you zoom into the picture, you can see the crumbs around his mouth.
Lovely.
He was fast asleep when Ankur got home from work. And I followed shortly after.
Saturday
We hung out at home in the early morning. Ishu got the next magazine as part of his Highlights magazine subscription (thanks family!). So he was busy reading that and the Pout Pout fish with papa in the AM.
Ankur put him down for a nap and I walked to the chiropractor. I’m going to love living so close to the chiropractor! (I also love that they’re open on Saturdays, which makes it so much easier to go).
By the time I was done, Ishu was up so we all decided to head to Maggie Daley Park. It’s this MASSIVE, 20-acre public park with SO many things to do, for all ages.
The only things we explored were the Enchanted Forest and this maze of mirrors. It’s so big and there’s so much to see so I’m sure we can discover different parts of the park as time goes on.
We went and had lunch at Brown Bag Seafood. Ankur got fish tacos, I got a chicken salad, and Ishu happily ate Papa’s chips and Mama’s green beans.
Ishu fell asleep on the walk home and ended up sleeping from 4pm – 6:30pm. (To say his sleeping has been off since we moved here would be an UNDERSTATEMENT! No, I take that back. His sleeping has been off for always. Haha).
When he woke up, we Portaled with the fam and played with bubbles and stayed awake until 10:30pm. Yes, correct. We raged with Ishu.
Sunday
For breakfast, Ankur made a really yummy HelloFresh meal. And, while Ishu slept, we watched a few episodes of Loki.
We finished the season and were surprised (and excited) to find out they’re going to be making a Season 2!
Now that we’ve finished that, next up on our list is Black Widow.
(Yeah, I don’t know what happened to this former rom-com watching girl either).
When Ishu woke up, we walked to the park while Ankur went to get a haircut. While we were there, there were a few other kiddos running around screaming, “Lava! Lava! The playground has lava!”
Ishu had no idea what was happening, but was more than excited to run around with them.
He loves other kids so much and it makes me want to plan intentional playdates for him. When we got home, I logged onto FB and posted a message in a FB group for parents in the Streeterville area.
I got a few responses and set up a few playground playdates for him this week. I’m excited for him to meet other kids (and for me to meet other mamas!).
Now, I’m going to go get ready and head out to take care of some things I didn’t get to do over the weekend.
With my little sidekick.
Hope you all had an incredible weekend as well!

Sounds like a great weekend. That’s great that Ankur is home and you’re able to really be together as a family, especially since you’re still exploring your new home. That big playground sounds super awesome!
I hope that the playdates you set up all go well, and Ishu (and you!) can make some new friends.
