Good morning and happy Monday!
Saturday
This weekend, we were excited to go to the Tacos y Tamales festival in Pilsen. I love the IDEA of festivals and big events like that. But, when I’m actually there, I’m overwhelmed by the number of people. And I honest-to-God get freaked out a tiny bit on the inside because I feel nervous about the idea of something happening and not being able to make a run for it.
Oof.
The reality of living in America.
You can never actually feel 100% safe.
We got some food, listened to a few songs at the stage, and then decided to head back home.
Sunday
We had brunch at Wildberry.
It’s right next to Lurie’s and we had scheduled Ishu’s first COVID shot there.
We did some priming with some videos and books and conversation, worried that he’d be a wreck after this shot. It was his first-ever shot in the arm!
He cried for 10 seconds as the shot was happening, but then stopped when the nurse put the Band-aid on. And then he proceeded to run around the observation area showing off his Captain America Band-aid. And he’s been a happy camper ever since.
It was sweet to watch all the other kids and families in the observation room. They were playing Encanto in one corner of the room (smart move) and all the kids were crowding around that area. Some parents were FaceTiming other family members saying things like, “She did SO good” and “It was so quick!” And Ishu frolicked around, sticking out his arm to show anyone who would give him any attention. a
Once we got home, he fell asleep pretty quickly. While he napped, Ankur and I watched another episode of Moon Knight (I’m not into it) and I’ve been reading this book.
Then, we did a Costco run. And, before heading home, we stopped at a playground for an hour or so.
Now we’ve got another week ahead of us with lots to do! Movies in the park, music in the park, playing in the park. All the park things. All the play things.
Hope you had a great weekend!
