Scenes from the Weekend: 6/30/25
It’s Monday!
Ankur flew back to Chicago yesterday, and we’re already missing him so much.
We packed a lot into the past few days, including visits with friends we haven’t seen in a while.
On Friday, Ishu had his usual karate and swim classes. That evening, we met up with the Pelz fam at Hangar 24—such a great spot if you’ve got kiddos who need to shovel food into their mouths and then sprint laps around the grassy area. Or pop over to visit the birds and chicken. It was our first time there, but definitely not our last.
We always snap a photo when we see each other (at least once a year!), and it’s been so fun watching these little blobs of ours grow into full-blown little humans. 🙂 And now there’s a new addition who’s not quite ready for standing pictures! We got to meet 6-month-old Elijah for the first time—and WOW, what a cutie. Riyu was not pleased that I wouldn’t let him “hold it.” “It” being the baby. Naturally.
After that, we met up with Nani and Nanu at Flower Child. We hadn’t been before, but it’s apparently a go-to spot for “health-conscious food enthusiasts.” So I shouldn’t have been surprised that Papa picked it. 🙂
On Saturday morning, we reunited with THE TEQUILA crew. No tequila was consumed (hello, we are old now), but it felt SO good to see everyone after so long. I’ve seen Josh more recently, but hadn’t seen the others since our wedding. WILD.
I’m definitely not letting so much time pass before the next visit. There’s just something so comforting about being with people who knew you in your Long Island Iced Tea era and still like you anyway.
And then, yesterday, we dropped Ankur off at the airport and then moseyed on over to Sam and Vee’s house for a spontaneous morning visit. Ishu played Mario Kart for the first time, Riyu had his first taste of kettle corn (life-changing), and I got to hug Sam and Vee after a whole year. Win win win.
Also: Bella has a driver’s license and is going into 11th grade. Which makes me, like, 87 years old? Where is my cane?
We spent the late afternoon playing in the backyard splash pad.
And then Ishu got to go pop over to say a quick hello to Maika who is going to be here for the next two days so that’ll be fun for all of us.
We’ve been busy busy busy—but the kind of busy that leaves your heart (and camera roll) full.
Now we’re back to solo-mama-mode: sticky popsicle hands, all the sweatiness, and the background noise of, “Mama, mama, mama, mamaaaaa, MAMA!!!!”
Looking forward to the week ahead: more cousin reunions, more chaos, and hopefully a nap in there somewhere.
HAPPY MONDAY!
