Now we’re talking, Chicago.
You really strung us along in May.
But we’ve made it to the best part of the year. The reason people are obsessed with this beautiful city.
Everyone in the apartment is still sleeping so going to do a little weekend photo dump.

On Saturday, I got to celebrate Daisy as she was named one of the 40 Under 40 in Cancer: Rising Stars and Emerging Leaders. Of course, in true Daisy fashion, she copied/pasted the information I needed to show up, but didn’t quite go into the details about HOW COOL she is. Like how she was selected from 4000 nominees across 20 different countries. She takes humble to a whole new level.
Alos, Sylvie was in town this weekend for a wedding. And on Sunday, she came over for a couple hours to hang with us. We got Wildberry and caught up on all the things. And, boy oh boy, do we miss her so much. Then, Ishu and I hopped on over to Maggie Daley for a little bit and then finished the day off with some ice cream and a walk along the lake.
And then, yesterday, we had a beach day. I’m normally anti-beach (yes, yes, quite the surprise for everyone who knows where I grew up). The water is always cold, the sand gets in all the crevices, and I just don’t find it all that relaxing. So, every time Jenn invited me on a beach day last year, I’d be like NO THANK YOU. But, I tagged along yesterday because it was the best weather of the week and Ishu loves a beach day. And, it turns out, that if you can get past the initial hustle out the door and sand being in all the crevices, it really is quite relaxing. The big kids are so independent (for the most part) and there’s a lot of down time and sunshine for the grown-ups. And, it seems like a pretty great way to spend the day. Even little Riyu started to feel more confident walking around the sand by the end of it. I also think that a lake beach day vs. an ocean beach day is so different. The lake is obviously calmer waters so the kids were free to run around without me feeling panicky about them crashing down with the waves.
I have a feeling there will be more beach days in our future.
(Also, they both slept so HARD yesterday and are still sleeping so that’s a definite pro too).
Okay, I’m off to do the morning things.
Have a good one!
