Oh man.
It’s 9:30am as I sit down to type this and I already feel like I’ve had a full day.
Ishu started his new class today and it’s been an emotional rollercoaster over here this morning. He woke me up around 6am asking if he’s going to have to sleep in his new class. Before I could even respond, his eyes welled up with tears and he started to cry, “I don’t WANT to go to the new class.”
Thank goodness Ankur was able to accompany me for drop-off. This month, he’s been having to leave extra early so drop-offs have been my duty. But, thankfully, he woke up early and did a bit of work from home so he could join me this morning.
Because we left a crying Ishu in the gross motor room.
And then we walked back to the stroller and I was a crying mama, Ankur needing to comfort me as well.
Gah. It’s all so hard.
Anyway, I’m going to attempt to throw myself into work now so I’m not sitting here, stressing out about how he’s doing. But before I do, I wanted to do a quick recap of our fun weekend with Auntie Jen!
Jen flew out to Chicago a couple days before her math PD out here and we got to be together all weekend long. Which felt like the most special couple days EVER.
On Saturday, we went to a brunch planned by my friend here, Jenn. Jen and Jenn! And then we met up with some of her co-workers and introduced them to deep-dish pizza. Then, we scooped up Ankur and Ishu and walked over to the riverwalk for a drink.
On Sunday, we went to the zoo (and saw the baby lion cubs born in Jan!), made a Costco run, and then stopped at Jeni’s on the way home. I’ve been trying to get a handpacked pint of this flavor I’m loving, but none of the Jeni’s would do it for whatever reason. But it was our lucky day ’cause they had handpacked pints and so Jen got TWOOOOO for me. (I may or may not have had a few bites with breakfast this morning).
And then we braved the rain and went on an Architecture Tour, leaving out of the Navy Pier. Ishu was asleep in the stroller for half of it. We laughed at the fact that he fell asleep in one place and then woke up later on a boat. Ha.
It was the best, best, best having Jen here for a few days. And when she packed up last night so I could drop her off to the hotel, we were all a little emotional.
Ishu’s little voice said, “Are you leaving? But I don’t want you to leave!”
It was equal parts heartbreaking and also so so cute.
We miss her already.
Gah, so many emotions for Monday morning. I CANNOT HANDLE IT. I MUST GO BURY MY HEAD IN WORK.
G’day.
