Good morning from snowy Chicago (again). Yes, yes. We had 80 degree temperatures this weekend and now I’m watching snow fly by my window.
Crazy.
Anyway, I may end up keeping the little bug home from school today. He woke up on Saturday – after his nap – with a runny nose and a teeny bit of congestion.
It’s not that I worry he’ll get anyone sick. I mean, he’s been sitting on my head all weekend and I feel just fine. I just want him to hurry up and get back to 100% before his birthday this week!
CANNOT believe we are going to have a THREE-YEAR OLD on our hands.
WHAT?! (<—Ishu’s new favorite word to throw back at us).
Anyway, he’s still sleeping (on our bed) and I’m currently sitting on his toddler bed (aka the laundry holder), typing this up, ready to snuggle him at any moment he wakes up.
So let’s do a short weekend recap while we wait, yeah?
Friday
On Friday evening, Auntie Bella came over for dinner! We made homemade pizza and she brought Crumbl cookies for dessert. She will be moving out of Chicago this summer and we want to maximize all the time we can get with her. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: watching her and Ishu together makes my heart melt so much. He just crawls on top of her, plays with her like he sees her every single day, and loves her like she’s family. Which she is.
Saturday
On Saturday, Ishu and I had a fun day date to go watch the Three Little Pigs through the Chicago Kids Company. We somehow snagged front row seats and were close enough to bop the wolf’s nose. Of course, it also meant that Ishu was a little scared. Worried that the Big Bad Wolf was going to eat him. But, they really made his character funny and not-so-intimidating (which makes sense with an audience full of toddlers).
I loved that this performance was nice and short. About an hour. And Ishu ended up clapping along toward the end. When the wolf started blowing the house with bricks, Ishu sat at the edge of his seat and screamed, “It’s not WORKING. Bricks are STRONG,” as he lifted up his arms, showing off his toddler muscles.
Sunday
And, on Sunday, we took it real easy. The weather wasn’t great and Ishu was sniffling all day. So we Insta-carted some groceries, parked it on the couch and watched Jungle Book (his current fav) and Jungle Book 2.
That’s it!
I see a little monkey stirring so I’m going to sign off and smother him with all the kisses.
Hope you all had a happy happy weekend! 🙂
