Good morning and happy Monday!
Ankur’s taken Ishu to school because, for whatever reason, he can take the later shuttle this morning. And the baby’s already down for his first nap of the day.
So I’m going to use this time to drink my coffee and share some scenes from the weekend.
Friday
On Friday, Jenn and I took the babies to the museum. It felt weird to go without our big kids. But also incredibly peaceful. Ha. We’ve been dreaming of days like this one since we were both pregnant last year!
We spent 45 minutes in the Pritzker Playspace room and then we went and got lunch.
I can see more of that in our future. That room is so calming (for both mamas and babies alike). It’s especially nice to have all this fun sensory stuff available to us without having to set up or clean up in our own spaces.
In the late afternoon, after Ishu got picked up, the four of us went to Paris Baguette to eat a snack and play Garbage Monsters. As we do.
And then we watched Kung Fu Panda 2!
Saturday
Ankur had to go into work in the morning. We got a fun St. Paddy’s Day delivery for a quick breakfast and then the four of us walked down to the riverwalk to watch the dyeing of the river.
Ankur has never been available to watch the actual dyeing of the river. He’s either had to work or study or something. So this was the first time he’s come along with us. I mentioned it to Ishu. How this was the first time that Papa is seeing the river turn green.
And as we stood, waiting for the elevator to come, he looks at Ankur and asks, “Are you nervous about the river?”
At first, we both looked a little confused. And then realized quickly that Ishu associates “the first time” something happens with the emotion, “nervous.” Ever since he did that Turkey Trot during Thanksgiving and seemed scared. We talked about how it can sometimes make us feel nervous to do something for the first time.
So, now, anytime somethings being experienced for the first time, he thinks we’re all nervous.
Sweet kid.
Anyway, we SHOULD have been nervous because the crowd that turned up to watch the river turn green was INSANE.
It’s always been a little bit chaotic on the day they dye the river green. But this past Saturday felt crazier than usual. Maybe because they had a bunch of tents set up at Lizzie McNeil’s. Or maybe because they’re doing construction on the Centennial Fountain.
But it was CHAOS AND CLAUSTROPHOBIC.
Ishu and I got separated from Ankur and the baby at one point. And then our phones stopped working. Every call was dropping. So Ishu and I made our way up to the top of the Sheraton Hotel. Which is totally what we will be doing next year. You got less crowds and a better vantage point.
We eventually found our way back together and then decided to call it quits and head home.
Chicago doesn’t mess around for St. Paddy’s Day weekend. People are OUT AND READY TO PARTY. But, if you’re like us, it makes sense to just stay indoors and then wait ’til the next day to see the green river. (‘Cause it stays green for like a week or so!).
So, yes, we went home. Ate some chili. And watched Kung Fu Panda THREE.
Sunday
On Sunday, Ankur went to work in the morning. But was done pretty early. Brought back coffee for me and took Ishu to get a haircut! #BestHumanAward
At 1pm, Abby came over to be with the baby. And then the three of us – Ankur, me, and Ishu – walked over to the theatre to watch KUNG FU PANDA 4!
Mama Papa Ishu date.
We thought it’d be fun to have some quality time with him.
Also, can we talk about how these theatre seats have a butt warmer?
I’m about to pay for a ticket just to have a nice little nap.
Okay, that’s it for the weekend festivities!
Oh, yes. And our littlest member of the family turned a whopping 7 months old.
And, just for funsies, I put together this Pic Stitch of the brothers at 7 months old.
I’m obsessed.
Have a good week!
