Good morning from SUNNY CALIFORNIA.
It felt so nice to shed those big winter coats when we landed at John Wayne Airport on Saturday.
It’s supposed to rain for the remainder of our time here, but that’s OK. I filled my sunshine cup up as best I could. Now we may be stuck inside, but at least we’re with family. 🙂
Let’s do a quick weekend recap before the little guy wakes up, shall we?
Friday
On Friday, we were busy doing laundry and packing for our trip to California. But we took a break to have dinner with Bella.
Love that she continues to be a part of our life despite not getting to see her almost daily. We love her so much.
Saturday
Saturday morning, we finished up the packing and drove over to the airport. By the time we boarded our flight, it was around Ishu’s nap time and he was READY to sleep hard. He fell asleep before take-off and then continued sleeping for over 2.5 hours.
Needless to say, he was definitely well rested and ready to play with his family. Watching him reunite with his grandparents is one of my favorite things.
He loves them all so much and it makes my heart ache that we don’t live closer. Some day. Definitely some day.
Sunday
On Sunday, we took advantage of the beautiful sunshine and spent the morning at the park.
He had fun making his rock and shell ‘coyection’ (collection) and FaceTimed his Nani to come join him at the park and bring a bucket for all his findings.
In true Nani fashion, she dropped everything and showed up at the park in 5 minutes with a bucket in tow. The two of them played for a bit longer while I sprawled across the bench, letting the sunshine beat down on me.
After we got home, Ankur gave him a bath and he went down for a nap almost immediately. And slept for nearly 3 hours?! Play hard, sleep hard.
We spent the rest of the evening at home, reading books, running around screaming, “NANI!”, eating Thai food, and watching the All-Star game.
Monday
On Monday, we quickly ate breakfast, got ready, and then made our way over to Chino to spend time with the fam. Ishu fell asleep during the last 15-20 minutes of the drive and was a little slow to warm up.
But once he had enough time (and then, again, once he inhaled 3 gulab jamun), he was back to his true, wild, loud self.
We were spoiled with a yummy, oh-so-filling lunch. But, as always, my favorite part of it all is watching the kids play together. WE WERE ALL MEANT TO LIVE NEAR EACH OTHER.
We eventually made our way back around 3ish and then drove over to Zack and Molly’s house for dinner. Can’t believe their little guy, Atticus, is already 1. The last time we saw them all was about a month before Molly’s due date.
Per usual, it was so nice to catch up. We picked up dinner from Urban Plates and Molly made some peanut butter cookies for dessert. I definitely appreciate the home dinner hangouts now as a mama. It’s so nice to ACTUALLY get to catch up with one another while the kids are contained and busy playing with each other the entire time.
And that’s it. By the time we got home, Ishu was definitely ready for bed. He had quite the fun day of adventure with so much playing and excitement (and very little sleep).
It’s no wonder he’s still asleep right now.
On the agenda today, Ankur’s headed to his conference in the afternoon. I’m back to work. And Nani and Ishu will get some quality time together.
Have I mentioned how nice it is to be close to family?!
I LOVE IT.
Okay, I am going to try to squeeze in some reading before little man wakes up and starts tyrant-ing around the house. I’ll be back tomorrow! Have a happy Tuesday!
