Scenes from the Weekend: 2/1/26

I’m chuckling as I’m typing up my “Scenes from the Weekend” post.

I just sat down at the dining table after putting Ishu to bed. I can hear Ankur attempting to put Riyu to bed. Riyu is very into singing before bedtime and, yes, lots of singing is happening.

He’s especially partial to the “Happy Birthday” song. He also really likes to be told the Goldilocks story and the Three Little Pigs. He always has commentary to add about the soup being all gone and how he’ll huff and he’ll puff. He’s a real delight.

Anyway, I’m LAUGHING over here because earlier today, while driving over to the gym, Ankur was explaining to Ishu that all the street names around us are named after the Great Lakes. And, to remember the five lakes, you can use the acronym HOMES. And, OH MY GOD GUYS, the way Ishu APPLAUDED when Ankur told him that. It was like his brain felt completely settled and thrilled to have a new little fact filed away.

And then, right before bed, he was listing off the Great Lakes which reminded him that he also knows a mnemonic device for the planets and, man, was bedtime fun tonight. I love this little guy’s brain so much.

At one point, he seemed  close to sleeping and turned to face the wall. I whipped out my Kindle to start this book and he immediately whipped back around to say, “MAMAAAAA, you can’t just READ until I’m asleeeeeep.” Ha.

I hope when they grow up and read these blog posts someday, they can read between my grumblings about not getting enough sleep and know how deeply they were LOVED. SO MUCH SO MUCH.

Okay, both children are asleep. And I should probably shower because I played 3.5 HOURS of Pickleball today. Who even am I?

To summarize, the weekend was so great.

And we’re doing a little extension of it tomorrow. So this is technically not all the scenes, just the ones I could sit down and write.

OKAY BYE!
