Good morning, good morning!
Happy Monday! It’s a balmy 44 degrees right now with a high of FIFTY today.
It’s pretty cool how quickly we can adjust to cold temperatures if needed. I thought there’d be a window of time where my body would have to acclimate from California temps to Chicago temps. But, with a coat on, you just go. And do the things. You gotta.
But, to be fair, the last couple days have been only a little colder than NorCal. We got a “warm” weekend.
On Friday, I kept Ishu home to have a cozy day at home.
In the afternoon, the four of us went to Riyu’s 15 month appointment. Ishu played moral support when he had to get his shots.
And then, afterward, Ishu and I went out to Lincoln Square to pick up race packets.
And then, since we were already out there, we had a little froyo date as well.
On Saturday morning was the Santa Hustle. Ishu has run a few kids dashes at this point, but I think we’re at the point where we want to sign him up for something a little longer.
The race shirts were already pretty festive, but it was fun to see people showing up in their gingerbread man onesies or dressed up as Santa Claus. I love a holiday event.
Since we were already at the Navy Pier, we decided to pop into the museum and keep Riyu up. (He’s currently transitioning from 2 naps to 1 nap a day and we gotta really keep him busy around 11am when all he wants to do is sleep haha).
Afterward, we went home for nap time and then went to Wicker Park for a tree lighting. There were carolers and free rickshaw rides. And Ishu got to hang out with The Grinch for a bit. The highlight, of course, was diving headfirst into a pile of leaves. Over and over and over again.
With warm apple cider in our hands, listening to the carolers sing, and watching the sky change colors all around us, I just felt extremely grateful. I love this time of year!
On Sunday, we celebrated Rose’s 6th birthday! Cat themed, of course. It was so fun to catch up with everyone since we’ve been gone for a few weeks.
On that note, I still have laundry to put away (from a week ago, whoops). And I should probably go be a productive human.
Happy Monday!
