Good morning, good morning. From this quiet apartment in Chicago.
The baby was sitting in the bouncer, watching big brother eat his breakfast. While I was packing up Ishu’s backpack. And when I turned my head to look at them a couple seconds later, the baby’s eyes were closed. Despite Ishu yelling – at the top of his lungs – that he was going to turn everything into spiky ice. (We watched Frozen this weekend).
Ha.
Riyaan was tired. He usually wakes up after 7, but for whatever reason he was up at 6 today. And, clearly, needed an earlier nap.
Ankur took Ishu to school this morning since he starts a little later today.
So that just leaves me and Suma. (And the mess that is our kitchen, but y’know, if you sit in the living room next to the Christmas tree, it’s very easy to ignore the pile-up of dishes. So that’s where we are at).
We had a relatively lazy weekend.
We went to a fun small business market on Friday after school. And then stayed home to watch Frozen. Dinner was pre-made flatbreads from Whole Foods and a bagged salad. That was about all I could muster up at the end of the week. (It starts to make sense why our parents would do pizza or take-out on Fridays. Not necessarily because it was a special day. But because they were TIRED).
On Saturday, we left the house zero times. We had grand plans to take Ishu out to the museum or even to run some errands. But the rainy weather made us wanna stay put. So, instead, to tire Ishu out, we had him play in the bath for a while.
(If you read through all the weekend blog posts, you’ll start to see a recurring theme of how we spent our days trying to tire Ishu out. Ha).
On Sunday morning, Ishu watched The Grinch with Jiya Didi and Veer Bhaiya.
We had one computer running FaceTime so they could see each other. And then we pushed “Play” on our respective TVs at the same time. Virtual cousin date!
(Yes, he’s eating a bowl of cheese for breakfast. A medley of Parmesan and Mozzarella).
And then Sunday afternoon, we met up with some moms for some play time and arts&crafts.
I left the baby at home with Ankur and got a much needed 1:1 date with Ishu. It was so much fun spending alone time with him and I want to find ways to do more of it.
Okay and now Ankur is home so I’m going to go take advantage of the one free hour we get together!
Happy Monday!

I love reading your posts. You have such a precious family and you’re such a patient mother. The weekend you had sounds like it was such a good one. I see many more in the future for you all. Frozen is such a cute movie. Henry always loved to sing along with the songs from it when he was little. Beth coming for Christmas and can’t wait to snuggle Violet. Told her she needs to be reading your posts when time, about being mother of two. 💜💚
