Good morning! We have been up for hours over here.
This was my fault.
Ishu woke up at 3am.
Because he fell asleep at 5pm.
Because we made him skip his nap yesterday. Whoops.
I am to blame.
But I don’t regret it. Sometimes you gotta do these things.
Anyway, let’s do a quick recap of the weekend before I gotta get this kid out the door.
Friday
Ankur and I were both able to pick up the little guy from school. And then the three of us popped home to change and then walked over to Reunion for dinner.
I always enjoy a dinner I don’t have to make. But, this restaurant feels like it went downhill a tiny bit for me. And somehow their prices have increased since they first opened over the summer?! Oof.
Also, it was made less enjoyable because we were seated next to two older white woman who were being condescending assholes to their Black server. It’s one thing to be the type of person that feels like you need someone to pour you wine (at a southern comfort restaurant though?!). It’s another thing to be the type of person who condescendingly places your hand on the waitress’ arm and keeps saying, “I’m doing this for *your* training. So you know how to do it…”
I was so disgusted.
So, yeah, maybe dinner was slightly affected by the racist, patronizing women next to us.
Saturday
On Saturday, we were all a little exhausted from the week. Me recovering from the cold Ishu brought home. Ankur from his workweek. And Ishu, surviving his first full week of school in big boy underwear. WOWIE.
So, we ended up staying home all day Saturday.
Ishu and I built a slide with his Nugget and he had fun using it to race his cars down (and then, of course, like he does, ended up climbing on top of it and jumping off it over and over again).
Sunday
Jenn, Max, Ishu and I went to a fun family event over in West Town.
Christine over at The Chicago Good Life was doing a partnership with NockNock and rented out a front yard space to host a few families and I was excited to do something festive (without having the normal crowds of a festival around here. Ha).
There was face painting, balloon animals, and a spirited DJ that spit out great music (and SO MANY bubbles!). Christine had catered brunch from Stax, a mimosa bar, and some other goodies and swag from Nock Nock.
It was nice to do something fun and different and I’m so happy we deviated from our norm to spend the morning and early afternoon there.
And then, on the way home, we stopped at Auntie Bella’s place and visited her, Uncle Tony, and Spirit! 🙂
I’m loving that Ishu is thriving in school, but we have been missing Auntie Bella so, so much. We skipped his nap yesterday in favor of visiting Bella and Tony (which is why we were up at 3am this morning!), but I’d say it was pretty darn worth it.
And now it’s Monday! We’ll see how today goes. I’m going to try to get this little guy to sleep for another hour or so before taking him over to school. It might be better for everyone if he can just get another hour in instead of having this long gap between wake-up and nap.
I feel like I’ve been calculating wake windows EVERY DAY for 2.5 years. Ha. WHEN IS THAT OVER? When naps are done? When I start realizing he’s gonna do what he’s gonna do and he doesn’t give a sh*t about wake windows? Yeah, probably that.
OKAY, good day to all.
