Scenes from the Weekend: 10/20/25

Oh, hi.

I haven’t been here since last week.

This really should be a “Scenes from the Past Week” blog post.

Anyway, here’s the latest and greatest.

The weather’s been pretty decent this past week so we’ve been trying to take advantage of it while we can. The SOAR farmers market only runs through October, so we’re hitting it every week until it wraps up!

We got Ishu’s school pictures back and I cannot handle how cute and grown-up he looks.

HIS MISSING TOOTH. I just can’t even believe he’s mine.

Ishu’s been making some Halloween crafts.

We renewed our Children’s Museum membership (obviously). And YOU GUYS. YOLA IS BACK. The Yola. From FOUR YEARS AGO.

She’s back and better than ever. And now Riyu gets a chance to build a relationship with her. It’s the best best best.

We painted pumpkins.

And decorated our doorstep. (We fully planned to decorate our front door, but y’know, there are only so many hours in the day).

We saw Aarav Bhaiya – along with the rest of the USC band – before their game against Notre Dame. (It felt very strange to be in the audience as they were chanting “Fight On,” but, y’know, we gotta show up for our people).

We celebrated Diwali with friends in the park.

It was such a beautiful night. Sparklers, rangoli crafts, bracelets, music, good food.

The kids had the best time. It felt so special to celebrate together since we can’t be with our family for the holiday.

We got breakfast with friends.

Ishu met Iron Man!

We watched Chicago come together for the #NoKings protest and every sign made me feel so teary and so proud to be on the right side of history.

We celebrated Max’s birthday at Altitude and closed the place down.

And we are fully jumping on the Pickleball bandwagon.

It is so fun and I am GIDDY thinking about all the games to come.

It’s been a full week. I forget how much I love October until we’re in it again. The weather starts to cool down but it’s not SO cold yet. Things feel festive and fun. The leaves start to turn. Weekends are packed with apple picking, pumpkin painting, and cozy chaos.

I know, I know. Winter’s around the corner.

But right now? IT’S THE SWEET SPOT.

It’s just so good.

To borrow from Anne of Green Gables, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
