Good morning, good morning!
Technically, it’s still a weekend for many people but, for us, it’s a regular ol’ weekday. Ankur’s back to work. Ishu’s at school.
Today, he’s starting a ‘second work cycle.’ In Montessori schools, they have a ‘work period,’ where they select tasks and work on them at their own pace.
The kids who don’t nap do a second work cycle. But Ishu’s always been a napper.
But, ever since Saturday, he’s been talking about how he’s starting second work cycle on Monday. Confused, I asked him if he decided that on his own or if his teacher told him he’d be doing it. And, I guess this was a plan hatched between him and his buddy.
Anyway, he’s been excited about it all weekend. The first thing he said when he woke up was, “Happy second work cycle day!!”
Later, when I pulled out his Bruin tracksuit from the closet, I said, “Okay, Ishu’s going to be a UCLA kid today,” he said, “Yeah. Because UCLA sounds like second work cycle.” Ha. This kid.
I dropped him off, talked to his teacher, and we’re going to give it a go this week. I think it’s probably time he drop his nap. It might make for some really hard evenings, but he falls asleep SO FAST when he doesn’t nap.
So, happy second work cycle day to us all. I’m going to need to bring my A-game out this evening.
Okay, before I sign off for the day, I’ll share some snapshots from our weekend!
On Friday, I picked Ishu up after lunch and we went to the museum.
Later in the evening, we had a picnic at the park with some neighbors! It was so beautiful outside and we stayed out long after the sun went down.
It was a really fun, special day and I’m hoping we can continue doing stuff like this, somehow, even as the weather gets cooler.
On Saturday, Ishu and I went out for a walk and, as we do, ended up at the park.
I told him he was in charge and he could lead us wherever he wanted to. Mostly, because we’re always hurrying around during the week trying to get where we need to be. So, I wanted him to have the freedom to move at his own pace.
In the late afternoon, we went to Max’s birthday party at the trampoline park!
It was fun for both the grown-ups and the kiddos alike. We love an activity that tires the kids out. It seemed like they all had a great time bouncing around.
On Sunday morning, we did the usual tennis thing.
Afterward, we walked over to cheer for the marathoners for a little bit. I always get incredibly emotional whenever I watch any sort of race.
And then, seeing everyone out with their medals for the rest of the day was making me smile ear to ear. On a walk last night, you could see into all the restaurant windows and everyone was there, sitting with their medals on and it just makes me so dang happy.
We also made a trip to Do-Rite.
When we got home, Ishu hopped on a FT call with the cousins and played some virtual Uno, cozy in his bed.
In the evening, we went to go see Coco at the movie theater. Makes me cry every freakin’ time.
And then, after the babies went to bed, I met up with Caroline and Franzi for some mama time. I may be paying for that today since I didn’t get to bed ’til close to midnight. But, it was definitely worth it!
Okay, time to get a move on.
Hope you had/are having a good weekend!
