Good morning! Another weekend come and gone. WHY do they go so quickly?
We managed to leave the house for a bit this weekend, but phew. It really takes some effort.
On Friday, our big outing was for Ishu’s fifth and final rabies shot. WOOHOO. He’s DONE.
And now, he can go around touching as many bats as he wants for two years according to my papa who thinks he’s SO FUNNY.
Once he was in Bella’s care, I went across the street to get some work done at Foxtrot. I chose to work at an elevated counter up against the window because it allowed for a little more privacy. But, also, it was an added bonus to get such a beautiful view of the snow falling.
At one point, I could feel myself trying to pull my attention back to work over and over again. I finally gave up the fight and closed my laptop for a few minutes to simply stare out the window. It’s cold as all get-out, but it sure is beautiful.
Before leaving to go back home, I picked up some vegan tomato bisque from their Grab-and-Go section and Ishu and I shared it while watching Encanto (for the umpteenth time).
When Ankur got home, we had leftover veggie tacos for dinner. And after Ishu fell asleep, we watched another episode of Hawkeye.
On Saturday, Ankur had to go take an exam with all the other residents. So Ishu and I slept in ’til 8. Does it really count as “sleeping in?” when he wakes up from 3:30-5:30? Or is it just considered a nap?
Either way, I was happy he chose to fall back asleep because I needed the extra rest!
My mama ordered us some Thai street food for dinner and Ankur and I finally finished Hawkeye. Now it’s on to Eternals!
On Sunday, Ishu and I trekked over to the Children’s Museum. I love their Pritzker Playspace that is designed specifically for toddlers. And they rotate out their toys/activities every once in a while. So it felt brand new to us when we walked in.
They had made the room a little darker and a lot of their “stations” or areas had some sort of light component. Lit up hoola-hoops, flashlights on a table, light underneath a table, buttons that you could push and the light would turn a different color (that seemed to be a hit).
Ishu usually walks around a little bit and then ends up at the sink.
But maybe because this was a new set-up (or maybe because we’ve now incorporated some sort of sink activity when we stay indoors), he was completely engaged in everything they had in that room.
As was I.
When we got home, he fell asleep almost immediately and I ran out to the grocery store to pick up a few items for the week. I usually do my grocery shopping with Ishu in the stroller. But it really feels like a treat to get to go on my own.
Ankur kept asking, “Are you sure you don’t want ME to go?”
And I kept saying, “NO WAY. THIS IS A GIFT. WHY WOULD YOU TAKE IT FROM ME?”
The rest of the evening, we spent FaceTiming family and watching CURIOUS GEORGE MAAAANKEY (this is much cuter when you HEAR it rather than read it…).
We’ll probably be doing more of that today. Auntie Bella isn’t feeling well (send her all the healing vibes!) so we are on our own today. Which means Curious George is our babysitter so I can get some testing in! But when I’m not working, we’ll probably head outside for a bit because temps are higher today! (30s! WHAT!)
Hope you all had a great weekend embracing the weather.
