Gooooood sleepy morning.
I think I got a whopping total of 30 minutes of sleep last night?!
Ishu was an overtired kid and passed out quickly, but as he does when he’s overtired, he wakes up and is restless at night. That, on top of baby Riyu’s wake-ups and me reading this terrifying thriller, left very little sleep for this mama.
Ankur is doing drop-off this morning. I’m sitting here, watching the baby play around on his new alphabet mat. I’ll make this quick, since he’ll probably have to get down for his first nap soon. He’s got sleepy eyes. (Why do sleepy eyes look so much cuter on infants than adults?).
I probably could put up a picture of an Uno deck for this entire post. Because, it’s pretty much what we spent the bulk of our weekend doing.
Ishu has gotten better at it. He’s faster. He can hold his cards a little better and sort through them quickly with his little thumbs. And, so why not play Uno all day every day?! I feel like, a lot of times when he wants to play other things with me, I find myself running through to-do lists in my head. Waiting for him to stop screeching like a Pteranodon so I can go do the dishes.
But when it comes to playing cards?
I’m fully present.
I love that there is something that we both love right now that we can enjoy together and as a family.
We also had an ice cream date after school on Friday. And his bestie, Max, came over yesterday and they had so much fun playing all the things. Marbles, basketball, the floor-is-lava.
A pretty relaxing weekend (as relaxing as you can get with young kids).
I find myself looking forward to Fridays once again.
For a while, Mondays were my favorite day because after a weekend of concentrated time with big emotions and little sleep, I was happy to get a little break.
But now that it’s back to work and juggling Riyu at home, I crave the weekends once again.
So, a little bummed that this one flew by quickly.
But that’s OK! The good thing about weekends is they just keep comin’, y’know?!
Hope you all had a beautiful weekend!
