Scenes from the Weekend: 1/20/26

It’s cold.

So cold.

And it’s supposed to get colder.

How? I don’t know. I don’t make the rules.

But it’s FREEZING.

Thankfully, this weekend, I’ve got some fun plans to hang out with some of our book club ladies in Saugatuck, Michigan where the main agenda is doing as little as possible – mostly reading.

I can’t believe it’s happening.

When the idea was first tossed out at the end of last year, I said yes blindly, fully aware there might be some internal (and logistical) barriers to peacing out for a whole weekend.

For context, the only other weekend I’ve ever been away was our girls trip to Minnesota. Where we all ended up taking turns vomiting in the toilet (and me in the laundry room sink) courtesy of norovirus. So, let’s hope this trip has a happier ending for everyone involved.

Anyway, DADI IS COMING TO SAVE THE WEEKEND!

She’s flying in Thursday so Ankur doesn’t have to take Friday off work, basically swooping in so that I can have this 48-hour adventure with my book club gals. I am forever grateful for the way she shows up for the babies (and for us).

The kids are very excited for her arrival which makes me even more excited that I can truly leave them and sign off for the weekend. Knowing they are in the best hands.

Until then, we’re staying busy indoors while these temperatures stay rude. Lots of friend time, gym time, and Uno has made a re-appearance this winter!
