Ankur and I share our location with one another.
It’s mostly a great thing.
Sometimes I don’t love it. Like when he used to stalk my little dot in the mornings. Back when I left for work before him.
He would always know when I stopped at Starbucks before getting to school.
Ugh.
Now that he’s a lot busier at work, he has no time to see where I get my caffeine fix. (But, also, with a kid, it’s much MUCH easier to make your coffee at home. SO, he wins this one. Whatever).
ANYWAY, the location sharing.
I like it a lot.
It gives me comfort to know that he’s safe. Even if he doesn’t get back to me right away.
And I ALSO like it because, with Ankur’s schedule right now, he’s not done at a set time each day. Some days, he will finish at 8pm. And other days, he may finish as early as 4:30pm.
When it’s later in the evening, he’ll send me a text saying “Done,” and then show up at home 4 minutes later.
But on the off chance he finishes early, he’ll check my location and come surprise us wherever we are.
Most of the time we are at the park.
But, the last time it happened, we were at the Navy Pier. It was a really nice day out. So we were walking along the water, pausing to dance a little outside the food court where they had music blasting from the speakers.
Well, after about an hour, the sun was starting to get lower. And I could feel the wind picking up. So we stopped to put on Ishu’s jacket and then I snapped this picture real quick.
Rght as I went to send the picture to Ankur, he popped up from behind the pumpkins.
IT WAS SUCH A FUN SURPRISE.
Ishu hadn’t yet seen him so I pointed behind him, “ISHU, LOOK WHO’S HERE!!!!”
Ishu turned and had THE biggest grin ever. He started running over to Ankur.
Ankur bent down with his arms open, ready for the beautiful reunion. Ready to squeeze his little guy.
And, per usual, Ishu ran toward him with THE MOST EXCITEMENT. And then ran right past him.
It’s so funny and it happens every freaking day.
He’s always SO thrilled when he sees Ankur. Making a beeline straight for his papa. Always looking BEYOND excited. But then he doesn’t stop. Ishu always runs right past him. Because he refuses to be picked up.
It’s like he’s telling us, “I LOVE YOU. I AM EXCITED TO SEE YOU. BUT I DO NOT WANT TO BE HELD. I AM A FREE BOY.”
Okay, free boy. We see you.
And we respect your freedom.
But you should know that, some day, we will track your location too.
Question of the Day:
Do you share your location with anyone? Does anyone share their location with you?
