If you were standing in front of my school building in the morning, you would see me running through the front doors, multiple bags on my arms, hair still dripping from the shower, and absolutely no make-up on my face.
Every day. Without fail.
I wonder what my co-workers think of me as I enter the classroom breathless and disheveled.
Perhaps that I’m lazy and that I don’t roll out of bed until 7AM? Or maybe they think I don’t know how to put myself together? But I don’t waste any time explaining. Because as soon as I put my stuff down on my desk, I run down the hallway to check in with the kiddos in one classroom. And then, shortly after, run down to the other end of the hallway to check in with the other set.
At 8AM, when the principal comes on the loudspeaker to read the daily announcements, I’ll sneak away and run to the bathroom. It is then when I will take a look at my face and my hair and try to put myself together so I look somewhat presentable.
The truth is that my alarm goes off between 4:30-5:00AM every morning. I technically have two hours to do something with my hair, accessorize my outfits, play around with my wardrobe.
Instead, I roll out of bed and:
All before 7AM when I rush out the door and head into work.
So, if you see me looking like a frump every day, you know it’s because I’m running around. Doing work.
Questions of the Day:
- What time does your alarm go off in the morning?
- How long does it take you to get ready for work?

Mine goes off at 5 a.m.!
I do the exact same thing! I am running around like a crazy person trying to get my toddler to school and show up to work like I know whats going on! Some days I wonder how I get anything done! Next up on my list is the gym but that will have to wait till I move!

I have such an odd schedule, so I don’t have to be to work at the same time every day, but I’m always running late no matter what time I get up. If I feel like I have “plenty of time”, I’ll write a blog post, work on my novel, catch up with other bloggers . . . then I look at the clock and realize I have ten minutes to get read, and BAM! Sure, it looks like I just rolled out of bed, but that’s never the case.

I find my most productive time is at night…after everyone else has gone to bed. Mornings are a bear for me, but thankfully being a homeschooler, we can set our own schedule. We usually don’t start school until around 9:00, so mornings are quite leisurely. I tutor early one morning a week, and every single week I think, “I’m so glad I don’t have a job that requires me to get up early every day.” God bless you for getting so much done every morning. (Are you sure you’re not a robot?!) 🙂

My alarm goes off between about 4am-4:20am. Today I played the snooze game and ended up skipping my workout, but I feel like it was the right decision. My mornings usually consist of workout, shower/makeup/hair/get dressed, pack lunch (it’s pre-made from Sunday food prep, just needs to be gathered), coffee and breakfast (coffee prepped the night before while cooking dinner so all I have to do is “push the button”), then I sit down to deal with blog stuff/email management before running off to work. I like starting my day super productive as I feel like it sets the tone for the rest of it.

I’ve reached an age where my mornings are not as fast-paced as yours.
These days, I’m up around 6AM – I rarely hit the snooze, but there are days! One day a week I’m up at 4:30 to meet my dear friend for breakfast – we prefer face to face. The rest of the days, there is coffee and breakfast with my husband and a little snuggle time with our dogs. Then exercise, a little quiet time, then there’s writing and blogging and marketing. And time at some point in the day in my photo fort near the bird feeders with my camera.

My alarm goes off at 7am. Wake up and prepare breakfast for my son. Then prepare lunch & snacks for him to bring to school. Took everyone about 45 mins to be out of the door. Then it’s leisure time for me.

Ugh! I feel the same. Like I am constantly running from one thing to the next. I get up at 4:30 and don’t stop until 10 or so. Wondering if it will ever get better.

I teach too! Alarm goes off at 6:45, I roll out of bed at 7:30 and am dressed, hair and makeup done by 8:00 to make it to work by 8:10 🙂 We do as much as we can the night before so we aren’t rushed in the morning!
Callie says
I get up at least 1-1.5 hours before I need to leave. And really I leave 20-30 minutes earlier than I need to. I am scheduled to start work at 8:30 every day, and if I’m going to be later than 8:05, I freak out! I always like to be early. Today I didn’t roll in here until 8:20 and I was so mad at myself, and my makeup is simply foundation and mascara, but at least I did manage to wash and dry my hair. 🙂

Wow! You sound super busy. I feel the same, although I’m a college student as opposed to a teacher; even though I wake up earlier than most of my friends, I often find myself running out of the door looking hardly presentable because I’ve been doing blogging-related tasks most of the morning.
Brooke Armendinger says
My alarm goes off at 6:15 in the morning. I give myself 15 mins of quite alone time before I get going and start making my kids lunches, I wake them up around 6:40 and we are out the door for school at 7:20. Then I come home and do my daily devotional, before I jump into work!

Props to you for waking up SO EARLY to get stuff done!!
