Happy Day After MY BIRTHDAY!
That is absolutely a thing that needs to be celebrated.
I get depressed when my birthday is over because I have to wait another 364 days to pass to celebrate my birthday again. So I like to prolong the process as much as possible.
Thank you, Ashley, for sending me pretty, pretty flowers, even though I’m not there to admire them.
I love how your way of wishing stays consistent year after year.
Today I slept in a bit again and then walked with Sister to work. She went off to work while I used her gym. I didn’t stay for too long because I had plans to meet Brittany for lunch!
Brittany and I met 15 YEARS ago! We hit it off at Seaweed Camp (a camp for incoming middle school kiddos to get to know our campus a little better). We stayed friends throughout middle school and high school. Though our college experiences sent us different ways, we’ve somehow managed to keep in touch (thank you e-mails + social media for that!). I got to see her last year while I was visiting DC and, lucky for me, I got to see her again this year! We went to Clydes in Chevy Chase, which was basically a fancy diner. I immediately ordered the homemade sangria.
The waiter asked to check my ID and then I demanded that he wished me a happy birthday. (I’m not joking — I like to extend my birthday celebrations as long as I possibly can!).
The sangria was good – not great. It definitely doesn’t top Bruni’s! (Bruni – if you’re reading this, you should know….your sangria is the one to beat!)
I ordered a turkey burger – mainly because there were chopped up apples in the patty (which I’m such a huge fan of thanks to Bhabhi!)
I’m so glad I got to see you, Brit! 🙂 Thanks for making time to hang! <3
After lunch, I went and got Sister’s oil changed. Fancy stuff.
And then I rushed home to get ready for dinner.
(Don’t worry. The glasses went back in their case before dinner).
Sister wanted me to meet some of her DC friends, so she organized a dinner at Tico, a new restaurant that opened up around the corner from her apartment.
We ordered a TON of small plates – it looks so teeny on the plate, but I guess when you order 10+ plates, your belly doesn’t need much more than that.
My favorites were probably the: Cabbage Salad, Crunchy Edamame Tacos, Mac&Cheese, and Chorizo Risotto.
Well, to be completely transparent, my favorite was probably the Hibiscus Margarita. But, I was just trying to focus on the food.
After our plates, we were completely stuffed, but we wanted to order a few of the dessert options.
We ordered a Bittersweet Chocolate Tart and a platter of cookies + milk.
I loved the presentation of it all!
Sister and I had plans to go get our nails done after dinner since her salon was open until 11PM but, as we were leaving dinner, it started POURING (along with lightning and all that fancy business), so we decided against it.
So now, our soaking selves are topping the margs off with some wine. Totally normal.
Hope your night is drier than ours! 🙂
