Good morning and Happy Sunday! The “Sunday teacher anxiety” has not shown it’s face yet but I imagine that will change next week. If I do my job of balancing work and life correctly, maybe it won’t change at all.
This week, while my mom has been here, I’ve been spending some time decluttering my life and making sure I have everything situated in the apartment so I don’t find myself drowning both at work and at home when work starts to pick up.
On Thursday, I got home from work and was treated to some home-cooked food….
….and some minor changes to the decor of my apartment.
Yes, that is my Joe Bruin bear thumbtacked to the wall. My mom firmly believes that “everything should have a distinct place” in order to remove clutter from your life. Apparently, the bed was not Joe’s place.
I also ended up donating half of my wardrobe to a shelter.
I packed up some stuff for my mom to take home with her and put in storage.
And then we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to buy some storage boxes. While we were there, we asked one of the employees where we could find some over-the-door hooks and the employee asked us if we were shopping for college. Before I could even answer the nice lady, my mom said, “Yes, my poor college student is packing so last minute.” (<—–mind you, this is the second time this has happened. She did the same thing at BBB two weeks ago). The lady then followed up with a zillion questions about which college I’m going to (I lied and said SJSU), whether I had the packing list that SJSU created for their students (I have it on my phone, thank you very much), and then followed it up with a list of supplies that other students are buying for their dorm rooms (IS THIS ONE OF THE SUPPLIES? BECAUSE I’LL BUY THIS EVEN THOUGH I’M NOT IN COLLEGE):
My mom enjoyed that a little too much. Makes her feel young, she says.
After we got some boxes (and the nice lady shouted out, “ENJOY YOUR FIRST YEAR!” as we left the store), we went to Yiassoo for lunch because I knew my mom would love, love, love it as much as I do.
I was right.
And then we went and spoiled ourselves at the foot spa we went to a few weeks ago. It was less enjoyable than I expected. Maybe because I wasn’t in as much pain this time around. Or maybe because I got a lady instead of a man. I like getting a male masseus. I don’t like any of that gentle stuff. I want bruises by the end of my massage, thank you very much.
Relaxing, yet productive day.

And in true college spirit, here’s a red solo cup chart. Where do you fall?
The left side (expectation) or the right (reality)?
I’m definitely more of a right top-it-off kinda gal.

“Sunday Teacher Anxiety” is the bane of my existence! I always find that the more organized I am the less anxious I feel but after seven years of teaching it still creeps up on me.
