We’ve entered into this new developmental phase of imaginary play and I AM HERE FOR IT.
A few days ago, while we were Portaling with our parents, Ishu scurried off to the corner of the room where the Christmas tree sits on top of a table.
He pulled up a chair, took some figurines (a Nutcracker and a Gingerbread Man), and lifted them up to the Christmas tree. As if he was showing them all the ornaments.
We continued chatting with the parents. And then, a few seconds later, I look over at him and he had the Nutcracker facing the Gingerbread man.
He lifted up the Nutcracker and slightly shook it, whispering, “How are you feeling, Mr. Gingerbread Man?”
And then he lifted up the Nutcracker, slightly shaking it. “I’m feeling good.”
He immediately looked up, catching us spying on him.
He thrusted the Nutcracker in the air and said, “HE’S FEELING GOOD.”
It’s the first time I’ve seen him do that.
And, probs, I shouldn’t have interrupted with my loud whispering to Ankur saying, “OHMYGOD, LOOK WHAT HE IS DOING RIGHT NOW.”
But it’ll happen again.
And I’ll eavesdrop a little quieter next time.
I CAN’T WAIT.
