Yesterday, I took the baby on a walk and then stopped by the front office of our apartment complex to pick up some packages. Normally the packages get delivered to our front door, but we were out of town and asked if somebody in the office could grab them until we got back.
Fortunately, they were real nice and did us this favor.
I knocked on the front door and realized then that I haven’t actually been inside the lobby/office area. Despite living here since July, we haven’t had a reason to go there.
We pay our rent online. Packages come to our door. And I’m sure the gym is closed because of COVID. I also haven’t been to the pool. Which is all just ironic because when Ankur and I were choosing apartment complexes, the gym and the pool were both big factors in the decision.
But then, COVID.
Anyway, a sweet lady answered the door and handed us our packages. And we both stood there – with masks on – chatting for a few minutes. It was – quite possibly – the highlight of the whole day.
I miss that so much. Just the simple interactions I would have with random strangers throughout the day.
Nowadays, I’ll order coffee or food from my phone and have a contactless pick-up or delivery. I’ll go to the grocery store and then do self check-out.
It’s efficient and it’s safe and I know I’m lucky to have that luxury. But I do – truly – miss talking to other humans outside of a FaceTime or a Zoom call.
I also miss Costco samples. And pushing the crosswalk button without fear that I’m gonna contract the virus.
But I miss people the most.
What do you miss the most?

Random chats with strangers are something I miss so so much since this pandemic started. I also really miss eating in restaurants and sitting stopping the table with girlfriends. I also think that being without for so long had made me come to appreciate how truly special those things are and I hope not to take them for granted again ❤️
Love this exchange you had and look at how adorable Ishaan is!!

So true Div. We all miss that human contact. It has been a hard year for the world. A big lesson for all of us to learn….. The things we were taking for granted, we miss now that they are not readily easily available during this pandemic.
Lets all pray together that the New Year 2021 is a better one for the entire world.
May this treacherous Covid go away soon.
Happy Holidays!
Please Stay Safe and Healthy!!
