Good morning, good morning.
Ankur’s dropping Ishu off to school this morning and I’m sitting here so thankful for the ways this guy has somehow managed to work out a schedule to do pick-ups and drop-offs while I rest my back (in residency, no less! Which, if you’re not familiar with the way residency works, IT’S HARD).
I went for a walk to the grocery store before pick-up yesterday in hopes that the walking would feel better. And, well, let’s just say that I had grannies using walkers and new-to-walking toddlers passing me on the sidewalk. Ha.
Last week, when I went in to get checked out, nobody seemed HIGHLY concerned because it only hurts while walking so it’s not a slipped disc or something worse. But an injured SI joint seems pretty miserable to me.
Fortunately, I’ve got my first session of physical therapy today. And I’m determined to be the best PT patient ever, doing all my homework and THEN some.
I have a whole new level of empathy for people who experience chronic pain like this. I know that whatever I’m going through will heal with PT and time. But there are people who have to live like this always. Opting out of activities they really want to do because their pain won’t allow them.
Ankur was on the pain rotation this past month and when he told me about the people that make up the team, I was a little surprised – at first – to hear that it included psychologists. And now, it makes a whole lotta sense.
It takes a toll on your mental health for sure.
Anyway, sending love to all those who are experiencing any type of pain. It’s hard enough to get through life as is. But to throw anything else in the mix just feels real complicated.
Hope you all are having a good week and take care of yourself! DRINK WATER, STRETCH, DO THE THINGS THAT FEEL GOOD FOR YOUR BODY.
