Good morning!
Ishu’s been participating in a Crouching Tigers martial arts class for the past six weeks. And, yesterday, we got to attend his board-breaking ceremony!
It was so cute watching them all walk in, single-filed. All the kiddos were so excited to see their parents sitting there.
They all filed in and sat down on their respective dots. So many wiggling bodies. So much palpable excitement and joy for this audience of people who showed up to watch them.
Before they began their ceremony, one little girl shouted out, “I love your shoes, Mama!”
Another little girl ran up to her mom when she walked in the room and kept repeating, “Why are you so sweaty?! Why is my mom so sweaty?!”
And then the little boy sitting next to Ishu kept getting up from his dot to go hug his father in the corner.
It was all so cute. I couldn’t stop smiling at these little humans in front of us that were just so authentically themselves. Ceremony be damned, they were going to call out whenever and however they wanted because THEIR PARENTS WERE IN THE ROOM! Ha.
The ceremony itself was short and sweet. They did a few things before the board breaking and then each kiddo got to go up and break a board. They all felt so strong and walked away with their board pieces, a certificate, and a new stripe on their belt.
When we got home from school, Ishu opened up his present from Ms. Brittany.
And, boy oh boy, was he excited.
He proceeded to play “wedding” the rest of the night, trying to fit all 3 veils on his head at one point. Most beautiful bride I’ve seen!
Anyway, now I’ve gotta get this little tiger bride ready for school.
I’m hoping to have a more productive day today. Yesterday was pretty much shot because I was so exhausted from not enough sleep.
Wish me luck!
Have a good day! 🙂
