Where has the year gone?! I cannot believe it’s already October.
Here are a few things that have been going on in this month as of late. Feel free to play along in the comments and share things you’ve been doing lately!
__
Reading – Two books simultaneously. I’m reading Hamilton (obviously) and Truly Madly Guilty (for Book Club!)
Playing – Sight Word Bingo with my kiddos. We’re real cool.
Watching – I watched The Voice last night. And, when it’s not The Voice, I tend to default to Friends. You can never go wrong with Friends.
Trying – I’m trying to help build up some behavioral supports and systems at our school. I think the detention thing isn’t really working for my kiddos and I’m trying to pull in a lot of the things that worked at Rocketship. It’s tricky to do considering this is a very traditional teacher-centered school. But I’m hoping that by implementing it with a few kids on my caseload, and hopefully seeing some success with it, the schools will start to see it’s value.
Cooking – We’ve been making a lot of homemade pizza around here. If you follow me on Snapchat (@eatteachblog), you already know that I had pizza 3 nights this weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
Eating – Pizza. And egg white sandwiches for breakfast. I just can’t get enough.
Drinking – Coffee. I will usually have between 1-2 cups every morning, depending on how sleepy I am.
Tweeting – All about the presidential debate on Sunday. I love how Twitter just blows up and captures some of the best quotes from the night.
Going – To work, unfortunately. This morning weather makes me want to stay curled up in my bed. Today will be a longer day than usual since we’ve got Parent Teacher Conferences in the evening.
Loving – My morning routine. Wake up. Coffee. Blog. Egg sandwich.
Discovering – New podcasts to listen to. I’m about 45 episodes behind on the podcasts I currently subscribe to, but I always love discovering new ones. Some day, I will catch up.
Listening (to) – Hamilton on repeat. And, when it’s not Hamilton, it’s a podcast. Most likely NPR.
Celebrating – All the October birthdays in the family! And 5 months of marriage. 🙂
Smelling – At the moment, coffee. But, lately, I’ve been loving the smell of fall! I’m not big on pumpkin things to eat, but I love the smell! So cozy.
Ordering – Package from Amazon (new air filters for the apartment), Thrive Market (some pantry staples!) and my essential oils.
Thanking – The group of ladies here who have become my support system when work is too tough or I’m having major culture clashing moments.
Considering – How I’m going to spend my Fall Break next week!
Beginning – I’m starting to use my Flexy Friend again. For a while, I started using an old school planner again. But, I’m back on the Flexy Friend train. So far, so good.
Finishing – This blog post. And my first cup of coffee.
Questions of the Day:
- Answer one of the questions from above! What are you currently eating, loving, beginning, thinking, etc.?

As usual I am reading a lot–but unfortunately not enough to catch up–one of these years! I am thinking about the couple of payroll quarterlies and starting to end the year for couple of my clients–we won’t mention that this semi retired bookkeeper has to catch up on her own bookkeeping for tax time–Time goes so quickly. As for food–I have been eating mostly steak and veggies lately for dinner–for breakfast I found a lower sugar instant oatmeal–and coffee-lots of coffee! What about lunch you ask? Well-if I’m driving my Mom around–it depends where she wants to go–(and then I skip dinner)-if I’m being a happy hermit–nothing at all!

I’ve been hearing lots of good things about Truly Madly Guilty! Will have to check that out (I think it’s already on my to-read list, but…soon[er]! 😛 )
Hooray for homemade pizza! I’m going to have to make more of that this weekend!
The debate was such a trainwreck, but I love all the satire that popped up afterward, hahaha. :] So much gold to work with.

I wanted to love Truly Madly Guilty but found it very bleh. Let me know your thoughts when you finish.

Reading a book about marriage currently, LOVE and RESPECT by Eggerichs (sp?), thinking of reading the new Harry Potter book but disappointed it’s written in play form and not truly by JK Rowling…loving my coffee and fall in the mountains!

I’ve never actually listened to a podcast though I am loving Webinars right now. I watched the debate last night and it’s just embarrassing for our country I think. I am not a big fan of fall really but I love Pumpkin and Halloween

We’ve been making a lot of homemade pizza lately too! And for some reason, I’m on an oatmeal kick in the mornings. Love it, but haven’t made it for ages!

I have tried to read two books at the same time, but always find that I enjoy them more if I read one at a time. Not sure I am familiar with sight words bingo, how is it different from regular bingo?

I have to look into the books you’re reading. I just started The Girl on the Train and it’s super interesting.

I like the Flexi Friend planner your using. I love mapping out my day in a planner. Helps me stay organized.

I’m currently reading this vampire series by AJ Aalto and it’s not a Twilight lame vamp series it’s super funny and edgy. It’s how I unwind at night. My daytime looks like oatmeal, coffee, dog park, blog. Fun times!

Oh, I wish I could have attended your wedding! I’m betting it was so festive and lovely. I’m really loving the behavioral system you are planning to implement. Our Preschool has a red, yellow green, purple light system that I think is quite effective. I believe that having kids visually see where they are helps them to adjust and express their feelings and better their engagement.

Happy October. I think the egg white sandwich for breakfast sounds yummy. I don’t listen to podcasts because my internet is too slow.

Do you have a smart phone? (If not, I commend you! But, if you do, you can listen to podcasts through your phone!)

I also cannot believe the year is almost over. Congratulations on 5 months of marriage! It looks like you’ve been keeping pretty busy. I’m a HUGE homemade pizza fan too. What are your favorite toppings?

Thank you! My go-to toppings are: bellpeppers, zucchini, onions, green onions, honey goat cheese, chicken sausage, tomatoes, and CHEESE! 🙂 On occasion, I throw some corn on top because I just love corn. (I’m crazy)

The year really has flown by hasn’t it! I think it’s so neat you’re taking proactive measures on behavior in your kids schools. Way to go!

I am COMPLETELY with you in regards to staying in when it gets cold. The good news is the fact that I (prayerfully) should be able to crank out a lot of awesome content because I become less social. Congrats on 5 months of marriage!
