WE MADE IT TO FRIDAY.
At dinner yesterday, Ankur made a comment about how we thought this would take quite a bit longer. Yesterday was Day 4 and Ishu gave me a kiss and walked right into class with no tears.
And then when I picked him up, he was hula-hooping and smiling real big.
If that isn’t a clear sign that he was ready for this, I don’t know what is.
Yesterday, Ankur had to get to work real early so Ishu and I were both still in bed when he left. When we finally stumbled into the living room, we saw this cute little note he left for us. Ankur’s left us plenty of notes over the course of Ishu’s little 2.5 years of life, but this was placed in Ishu’s spot at the table and Ishu thought it was real special he got some mail.
“DEED IT MAMA, DEED THE NOTE FROM PAPA,” he demanded.
And when I got to the blanks, he filled ’em in. As he does.
Ankur always says, “I’m so…”
And Ishu fills in, “proud,”
Ankur says, “of…”
Ishu shrieks, “ME!”
Needless to say, Ishu smiled real big after we read papa’s note.
Fall weather has officially kicked in so I opted to skip OrangeTheory for a walk around the lake. And there really ain’t anything better than the solo time I get, while knowing my little guy is cared for and loved.
While changing him into his PJs last night, Ankur plopped him on top of the dresser. He was resistant and started to climb down. While his legs were dangling down, he crawled back up and said, “I have to come back up otherwise I will get hurt and start bleeding.”
I mean, what?
What?
What two year old uses the word “otherwise?”
I knew he had some pretty good language. But I think being in school for a few days has somehow made it even BETTER?
“OTHERWISE?”
I mean, c’mon.
Anyway, everyone probably thinks their respective kids are pretty smart. But I feel a little blown away watching this monkey change and grow every day. But, most of all, I feel so happy that he’s HAPPY.
Now we’ve gotta hustle and get ready for the day. On the agenda this weekend is a trip to the zoo (with his class!) and we’re going to watch Midnight Circus at one of the parks here. I bet Ishu will LOVE seeing all the acrobats and artists.
Hope you all have a happy Friday and a happy weekend!
