Good morning, good morning! And happy (almost) Spring Break to me!
My school district is off next week and Ankur was also able to get the week off so I’m looking forward to some quality time with the family in some warmer weather.
I’m also looking forward to handing Ishu off to his grandparents and pretending that he’s their responsibility for the next week. Hahaha.
Ishu is excited and has been running around with his suitcase all week long. Occasionally, he’ll run to the door – with nothing on but a shirt and a diaper – demanding I open it up so he can go on the bumpy airplane.
It’s funny that no matter how much you try to explain “NOT NOW. IN THREE DAYS,” a toddler’s brain can not comprehend. They only know right now. Only this very moment.
His little misinterpretations of everything make me laugh so much. Because he really is trying so hard to understand.
For example, I can tell we’ve been reading a lot of Eric Carle books lately. The other day, we were sitting in bed reading Good Night Moon and I had just finished reading the title and the author.
“Good Night Moon by Margaret Wise Brown,” I said as I went to turn the page.
“By Ewic Carle,” Ishu said, pointing at the front cover.
I laughed so hard and I said, “No, this one is by Margaret Wise Brown.”
“Moggit Wise Bown. By Ewic Carle,” he responded.
“Not Eric Carle!” I laughed.
And, so now, any book we read, I’ll start by reading the title and the author and Ishu will chime in, “By Ewic Carle,” and then he’ll look up at my face and then say, “Not Ewic Carle!” And then he’ll start giggling. Because he knows it’s made me laugh in the past. And he knows it’s funny. Not quite sure he understands the full extent of it, but it makes me chuckle every time.
HAHAHAHA.
I am laughing as I type this up. He is SO MUCH FUN. SO MUCH ENERGY AND SO MUCH FUN ALL WRAPPED INTO ONE LITTLE ERIC-CARLE LOVING HUMAN.
With that, I am off to go get ready for the day. One more day and then it’s TIME FOR VACATION!
Happy Friday to you!
