After two delays, a detour to Minneapolis because of the tornado warning, a mandate to stay in the plane because the terminal was way too small for all 300 people to go out and order food, and a crazy pandemonium to try to secure an Uber (oh, all while pushing 6 bags around the airport), my mama and papa are HERE!
They got in a little past midnight and Ishu must have sensed something because he woke up and, instead of crying until one of us put him back to sleep, he ran out of the room toward his toys. Saying, “Ball, ball, ball.” Maybe he knew that Nanu and Nani were about to show up and play with him. Who knows?
But, it goes without saying that his Nanu and Nani were shocked and SO excited to see this little monkey running around the lobby.
We went to bed around 1:30am, but didn’t actually fall asleep until 2:30 because Ishu was not having it. His insides were probably too excited about our visitors.
You would think he’d sleep in a bit but, of course, he was up at 6am, ready to play with his Nanu and Nani. We played, we ate, and we got him ready for daycare.
(I know, I know. Why send him to daycare when they’re visiting? 1) We already paid for it. 2) The consistency is probably helpful!).
Again, we only sent him for three hours. Drop-off was rough. He was a happy kid all the way until we got to his room. And then he started crying, probably knowing that I was about to leave again.
They said he did better though. That he mostly cried during transitions. But this time was better than the last two. So I’ll take it.
I’ve started to pack some corn on the cob with me when I pick Ishu up from daycare.
Even though I pick him up right after they eat lunch, there’s something about a corn on the cob that makes him feel happy. And, Lord knows he needs anything happy when he reunites with his mama who has abandoned him for three hours.
Ha.
I kid. Sort of.
Anyway, he’ll normally snack on his corn in the stroller on the short walk home. But we walked Ankur to work and then went to lunch one block over at Lyfe Kitchen.
So we pulled out the corn while at our table, waiting for our food.

It’s the new thing.
Tell the others.
Anyway, we spent the rest of the day indoors because it is H-O-T and sticky and muggy for the next few days. But Ishu has had no issue with it. As much as he loves playgrounds, he loves his people more.
Plus, Nanu and Nani brought him all the toys we left behind when we moved (hence, the 6 suitcases). And, basically, it’s like he just got a TON of new toys that he’s NEVER seen before.
So, we are a-okay being stuck inside for now.
Most importantly, we’ve got Nanu and Nani with us for the rest of the week!
(All that being said, this mama is going to go enjoy a hot cup of coffee because this baby is his Nani’s problem now, y’know?)

Your poor parents had a rough trip, but I’m glad they got there safe and sound and I hope you all have a wonderful week visiting! I love the BYOC. That’s fantastic. 🙂
