Hello, hello!
I know I’ve been away for quite some time. The Internet in our villa is sort of spotty so I haven’t been able to post each night. It’s our last night in the villa and we have all been sitting around reminiscing about the week. It has been one of the most memorable trips of my life. I got to see one of my closest friends get married to her best friend. We got to explore the entire island of Oahu -everything from touristy sites to local eats, swimming in the ocean with sea turtles to beautiful hikes – I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful week.
***************************************
This has been the summer of sea turtles. We saw some when we went snorkeling at Shark’s Cove. But we’ve also seen a ton at Laniakea (Turtle) Beach. Today we were playing a little volleyball in the water and a sea turtle swam THROUGH THE MIDDLE of our circle.
On Wednesday, we kicked off our first night in the villa with a few homemade tropical drinks.
We also spent the evening exploring the Turtle Bay Resort which was absolutely perfect.
On Thursday, we woke up bright and early to head to Honololu. We spent the morning on a catamaran and went snorkeling. I definitely busted out my new snorkeling gear and when the guides asked who was snorkeling for the first time, I may have scoffed at a few people. Since I’m a professional and all.
One bonus to the catamaran was that it had a full bar. Naked pirates may be my new fav thing. I’m talking about the tropical drink. Not Johnny Depp.
Another plus was the fact that we got to see SO many spinner dolphins. It was ridiculous! They surrounded the entire boat.
I sent my dad a picture of the dolphins and he responded with:
Hilarious, dad. Hilarious.
After we got off the boat, we went to lunch at a Mexican restaurant. We originally had plans to go check out Helena’s for Hawaiian food, but the wait was way too long and we needed sustenance immediately.
After our bellies were satisfied, we stopped by the Haleiwa Farmers Market.
It was so different than any farmers market I had been to. The fruits were all so unique and I got to try a passionfruit for the very first time. They also had a cash bar…which I think we need to start incorporating into our California farmers markets.
The bridal party and close friends spent the rest of the evening grilling up some turkey burgers and veggies for dinner. It was a low-key kind of night, but we were all pretty exhausted from the day’s events!
I will pop back in here sometime tomorrow with another post on our weekend events. I didn’t want to make this too long and I also should be heading to bed since it’s 2:30 in the morning! Jen and I have plans to go to Waimea Bay in the morning since we want to squeeze in one more thing before we head to the airport.
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! <3
