GOOD MORNING.
I’m feeling real thrilled this morning. Drop-off was a breeze, three days in a row. The sun is out. I’m meeting another mama for coffee. And I definitely had a Mr. Rogers moment on my walk back from school to the coffee shop.
You know how Mr. Rogers waves to all his neighbors, nodding his head, passing out smiles. That’s how this morning felt.
On the walk back from dropping Ishu off, I kept running into other parents and we stopped to chat very briefly (before their kids got impatient and took off running toward the school, ha). It felt VERY MUCH LIKE A NEIGHBORHOOD.
I remember – two years ago when we moved here – the first time that I ran into a nanny that I met on the playground and she shouted my name from the Foxtrot patio. It felt like such a cool experience. The fact that the city can, in fact, feel very neighborly.
And, well, I know I’m living the mornings I dreamt of.
Today was proof of that.
I love it, I love it, I love it. And now I want to spit all over my computer or put a kaala tikka on my keyboard to keep this feeling going. Any of my Indian family/friends UNDERSTAND?
Yes.
Anyway, I’m sitting at the coffee shop, smiling like a goon. It’s been a good week. Yesterday, we had Auntie Bella over for dinner and cake (she’s a college graduate and just had her birthday a few days ago). My mother-in-love is coming on Sunday for the week. And we’ve got some fun adventures planned for this weekend. Things feel happy.
SO, I’m going to go hop in line before it gets any longer. I’m happy, but there’s room for even HAPPIER with just a tad bit of caffeine.
Have a good Friday 🙂 Hope you’re having a morning of Mr. Rogers’ moments too.
