Good (late) morning!
We’re back to being hesitant about the new classroom. So mornings are spent consoling and hugging and taking breaks in the bed and feeling all the feelings.
And sometimes, like today, a stop at the donut shop.
The sprinkles help, y’know?
We also picked up some treats for his teachers. I’ve noticed that when he has something to give his teachers, he’s so caught up in that act that he doesn’t get swept away in his emotions.
Am I distracting him from his feelings?
Maybe.
But, you gotta do what you gotta do some days.
You gotta feel your feelings, but you also gotta carry on and do the things.
So, anyway, now that he’s a happy clam at school and I’ve got my workout in, I thought I’d come on and share a quick recap of our weekend.
Saturday
We went to the Chicago Children’s Theatre and watched a few Eric Carle stories on stage. Brown Bear, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, The Very Busy Spider, and our FAV, The Hungry Caterpillar.
Ishu was mesmerized by all the props and loved seeing his favorite stories come to life.
After the show, we went and had lunch at Doc B’s.
We were all pretty starving by the time the food came. We polished everything off pretty quickly and even had room to share a dessert. Ishu’s not usually a fan of anything chocolate (I know, right?!? Who even is this kid?!). But he loved this cake, so they’re doing something right over there.
Sunday
We also went to Wildberry for a Mother’s Day brunch.
Followed by a trip to the Nature Museum.
Ishu was making us laugh all morning long with his silly antics and fun, expressive faces. He’s such a good, good kid and I feel the luckiest to be his mama.
Now I must go get myself a little presentable for the work day.
Hope you had a great weekend!

It sounds like you had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend filled with special moments and treats! It’s great that you found ways to support your child through their emotions while also carrying on with enjoyable activities. Cherishing those memories and the joy your child brings is truly a blessing.
