We are back from our short weekend away!
We took advantage of the fact that Ankur is starting at noon these days and hopped on a flight to NY to see family from Saturday to Monday. And made it back in time for him to go to work yesterday.
Less than 48 hours, but in the words of my uncle, “something is better than nothing!”
It was definitely worth it to get some family time in and I’m really glad we were spontaneous in making that decision.
The minute we got off the plane at LGA, Ishu was running toward baggage claim, shouting, “EH-OH NEW OAK” (Hello New York!).
He was pretty pleased to be reunited with his Mañani and Mañanu. God bless technology for allowing us to remain connected with people. Even though it was his first time in their house, I really think he was comfortable – almost immediately – because we continuously talk to them through the Portal TV.
We also took advantage of being in NY and made sure to eat a bagel while we were there. And NY-style pizza. Obviously. Bhamu Mamu (which is how Ishu refers to him) took us to Patsys Pizza after our walk in Central Park.
But most of our time was spent at home in the living room. Watching Encanto. And then The Little Mermaid. Drinks in hand, chicken and kebab patties being made in the air fryer, and discussions of August wedding festivities.
And I introduced SusieQ to Wordle which feels pretty exciting. Our entire cousins chat has transformed to the “Wordle Gang” and we send each other our scores for all the puzzles. Wordle, Wordle 2, Nerdle, Worldle, Dordle, Quordle. It’s essentially a nice little scroll though colored boxes when you open up that chat.
I also got to finish this book and this book. And finally starting on this book!
I think there’s a positive correlation between how much I read on a trip and how much I love that trip. And, well, I read a lot.
Right smack dab in the middle of my cozy family.
Thank you NY family for giving us this fun weekend away with good food and even greater company.
Question of the Day:
How did you spend the long weekend?
Sujata MASI / Mañani says
My DBM ( short for Divya Budhraja Mathur) – Love you very much for your craft of storytelling!
I feel so bad for my Ishu who like his mañani caught this weird cold definitely from Central Park !! It was so cold but it was all about Isha being in NY and to stroll around and to be led by this littlest man in the Park.
Other than the cold, please leave that aside n delete from memory. You must must come back here before the shaadi 🎊😃😂🙏🌺❤️🌻🌹 NY awaits you !!!!
