WE ARE ON AN ISLAND. I am staring out at waves crashing up against the rocks as I type this blog post.
Yes, that’s right.
We moseyed on over to Maui this past weekend. Spring break 2022!
We booked these tickets a while ago and, to be honest, I wasn’t sure we’d actually follow through with it. But here we are. Ankur’s mama and papa, my mama and papa, Ishu, and Ishu’s mama and papa. (That’s us. Get it?).
We flew to NorCal and stayed there for a day and then flew from San Jose to Maui yesterday. And, boy, is it NICE to take a flight with grandparents entertaining Ishu. I read an entire book! I don’t remember the last time I did that in one sitting.
Ishu read all the books, peeled off all the Elmo stickers, ate all the snacks, and after a 1.5 hour nap, he watched Encanto with his Dadi.
It was the most peaceful plane ride with him yet. I basically sat in my own bubble reading my book for most of the 5 hour flight. The ultimate vacation.
When we landed, we walked toward baggage claim. And took a little detour to get caffeinated. Ankur rolled his eyes when he saw that I got a Starbucks latte and a cake pop for Ishu. We land in Hawaii and the first thing I get is something I get OFTEN in Chicago. Ha. Whoops.
Fortunately, we made up for it.
When we checked into our rental, we left Ishu with the parents and then went off to a food truck park in search of some non-Starbucks food.
Ankur got some fish tacos and I got some Thai food. And we scoped out a few places we want to go tomorrow and later this week.
Now we’re about to head out to the petting zoo and then the fish market!
(I’d say that I’m off to go get my child ready, but there are grandparents that want to do that. And I will happily step aside. Ha).
Happy Monday!
[…] and sliding, we all walked the half mile over to the food truck park that Ankur and I went to the night before. We were only planning to get a snack, but it all smelled so good that we ended up eating dinner […]
