OOF.
I am tired.
I did that thing again where I stayed up real late to finish my book and then, by the time I finished it, I was too winded and AWAKE to fall asleep.
Why do I do this to myself?
I don’t know.
This is probably why I was scolded as a kid when I tried to read under the covers. Because I’d likely wake up a zombie the next day.
Yesterday, the teacher uploaded a picture of the class learning “Opposites” during Circle Time. And I laughed and told Ankur, “I am CERTAIN that Ishu is the BEST at that.” (I mean, do you remember him ‘living within the paci’?!).
Just out of curiosity, we tested his ‘opposites’ knowledge when he got home. And, sure enough, he’s the master of the opposites. He can do it all. I don’t even know why I’m impressed. His little brain has been opposite-ing me for so long now.
Every day, he does something or says something so interesting. And I am certain that this proud mama feeling is going to happen at every age, in every stage.
The other day, while at the dinner table, he pushed back his plate and started scrambling off his chair.
“Are you done?” I casually asked.
He looked up at me and said, “I farted in my chair. I’m all done. The food needs to stop.”
HA.
This kid. Oppositional and curious and oh-so interesting.
I love everything about him. Even the oppositional part. Even on the hard days. ESPECIALLY on the hard days because that’s when his little personality shines through.
Now, we must go put on all the clothes and do that little morning dance we do. HAVE A GREAT DAY!
