Fridays are a good day for many reasons.
The weekend, for one. Ankur does have to work this Sunday, but normally his weekends are off (which is way better than what his schedule was like during his intern year).
But, ALSO, the Wiggleworms concert at Polk Bros Park is on Friday mornings. And the Children’s Museum is open Friday-Sunday.
So it feels like we have lots of things to do (besides playground hopping) on Fridays.
Yesterday, we went in the “mee-poo” (swimming pool) and that helped break us out of our routine. But, honestly? It’s a real task to keep a toddler entertained all the live long day. Not that he doesn’t mind repetitive trips to the playground, but I was trying to mix things up for MY sanity. Haha.
Ankur was done before 6:30pm yesterday, which meant he was able to stop by the daycare and pick up Ishu’s stuff. They only sent him back with the diapers. Not the pacifier we sent. Or the extra pairs of clothes. Or the really expensive bottle of Aquaphor. Probably using that for the communal pool now.
Trying to figure out if it’s worth it to me to go ask for our stuff back. (But also keeping in mind that I probably re-traumatize him a little every time we set foot in that building, haha). Can someone come watch him for 5 minutes while I run over to the daycare? PLEASE?
Anyway, speaking of being slightly traumatized and feeling abandoned, Ishu’s been asking for the pacifier a lot more these days. Which I don’t have a problem with. But, THIS much is unusual for him. He’s usually more interested in popping other toys in his mouth, so the fact that he wants the pacifier makes me scratch my head a little.
So, every once in a while, when he’s had it in his mouth for a while and I see he’s occupied with his toys, I will ask for it.
“Can you give Mama the pacifier?” I ask.
Sometimes he’ll give it to me, sometimes he won’t. I’m not trying to rip it from his mouth; mostly just trying to see if he’ll slowly start to give it back to me.
Anyway, I’m pretty sure he thinks that, when I ask for it, I actually WANT it to use. Because, lately, he’ll pop it right in my mouth.
Like, hm, maybe mama needs a little soothing too.
Yes, yes I do. You’re not wrong, little guy.
Happy Friday to you and yours! Hope you have a great weekend!
