The day after the Super Bowl, we talked to Ishu’s Dadi on the phone.
I love listening to the two of them having conversations.
A lot of other adults will try to ask him a ton of questions, or repeat what he’s saying, or lead the conversation to whatever they want it to be about.
But Ishu’s Dadi always lets him guide the discussion. And I think that’s why they have the best of conversations.
Dadi said to Ishu, “Oh, you watched the Super Bowl? I watched the second half too.”
“Who did you want to win, Dadi?” Ishu asked.
“I wanted the 49ers to win,” she said. “But they didn’t win. They lost….”
Ishu looked at me and Ankur and then leaned down to talk into the phone.
“Yeah, Dadi. They lost on my TV in Chicago too!” he said.
I cannot.
The sweetness and innocence of a child.
I wish I could swim around in his brain for a while.
I love him so much with all my heart. And cannot wait ’til he grows up and reads all these stories about him. So he knows just how dang cute he was.
