Ishu and I left the house with Ankur yesterday morning. The three of us were out the door at 6:45am. Usually, Ishu and I will stand at the door as Ankur leaves, giving him hugs and kisses goodbye. The door will shut, Ishu will cry out, and then will immediately get distracted with something else.
But, this time, we strapped him in the stroller and all of us were on our merry way to get the day started.
We walked the one block to drop Ankur off to work and then the two of us kept walking to the “Car Park.”
Per usual, we were the first ones at the playground.
When there are no other people at the playground, Ishu asks to go on the swings.
My theory is that he LIKES the swings. But doesn’t CHOOSE the swings when there are other kids running around the playground. Because he has a slight case of FOMO.
Always wants to be running around, doing what the other kids are doing.
But, yes, when we’re alone, he asks to go on the swings.
And, lately, he’ll be on the swing for a few minutes and then point to the swing next to him and say, “Dat ming (That swing).”
And he’ll want me to pick him up and put him in that swing. He’ll do that for however many swings there are. And at the “car park,” there are 10 freaking swings. One right next to the other. All baby swings. And he wants to swing in every single one of them.
Even though they’re EXACTLY the same. It’s always, “Dat Ming. Dat Ming. Dat Ming” until he’s tried them all.
It kind of reminds me of when I stay in a hotel or an AirBnB with Ankur.
I typically want to put my suitcase down and then throw myself on the bed to relax for a few minutes. And, while I do that, Ankur skitters around the room or the house, inspecting every nook and cranny. Wondering what is in this drawer. And that drawer. And the drawer below that. (Even though ALL the drawers are part of the dresser and aside from the damn Bible in some hotel rooms, they’re typically empty). But, like father, like son.
They want the full experience.
Those curious little brains.
They like to observe and search and audit.
And I like to stand back and watch them take it all in.
Question of the Day:
When you get to a hotel room, are you Team Ankur (open ALL THE THINGS) or Team Divya (pass out on the bed)?

Curious Baby Ishu!!
