So, remember when my life was full of Sudafed and chicken soup?
That was over two weeks ago and the symptoms only got worse.
I tried the home remedies, the teas, the soups, the cough drops.
I tried my personal favorite, knock-you-out-& wake-up-feeling-good night time medication.
My BFF, Jen, brought over a humidifier which definitely helped while I was sleeping.
I even celebrated National Margarita Day by drinking Throat Coat tea. Now if that doesn’t scream “URGENCY to get better,” then I don’t know what does.
I got put on antibiotics and Prednisone.
On the 5th day of my Z-pack, my symptoms had not gone away and had actually gotten a bit worse.
I went to Urgent Care where the doctor recommended that I get a chest X-ray to rule out pneumonia.
When my parents heard THAT, they immediately booked me a ticket home. They figured if I was going to get a chest X-ray and miss work for a few days, I might as well do that while being closely monitored by my dad.
I’ve lived in NorCal for nearly two years and have yet to find a primary physician. I either need to:
1) Suck it up. Be an adult. And find a physician in NorCal.
2) Move back home to be closer to my Dad.
3) Spend WAY too much money on flights home every single time I get sick.
Right now, it’s looking like #3 has been the consistent winner.
(I’m not biased. My dad is the best.)
So, after all that, the verdict = Acute Bronchitis. With a fever. My dad just wanted to make sure to monitor me because all the medication I am on tends to increase blood pressure (which I’ve had trouble with in the past).
I’m getting a little better each day.
Last night was pretty bad.
Today was much better. I guess when they say “bed rest,” you really just have to “bed rest.” I’m a terrible bed rester. I always want to get up and move around.
I’m really missing work though. My co-workers keep sending me pictures of my kiddos and it kills me that I’m not at work with them this week!
But my dad gave me a really long lecture about how I can’t expect to take care of other people if I can’t even take care of myself.
Lesson learned.
Now I just rest.
Until Monday.
When I get to return to this (x5).

And this may sound weird but as of December 2013 we have a new rule in my house – if I even talk about taking NyQuil I have to get to a doctor that knows me right there and then. We can chat about it when you feel better. but bottom line is while NyQuil for me is an immediate fix cause it knocks me out it heals nothing. Might be different for you.

That’s a good rule. I think I’m going to start making that my new rule. MISS YOU.

You poor thing!! I swear that all the illnesses going around CA are really bad this year. I had the cold twice, a few coworkers have had the cold/flu 3-4 times since October and my dad is current hacking up a lung every few minutes.
REST REST REST and feel better soon! 🙂
