Two more days of school for the kiddos, four more days of work for us, and that, my friends, means 5 weeks off for me.
I’m going to miss these little ones. But, I gotta be honest, I am in desperate need of some time off right now.
I think they are too.
Last I left off was Saturday night when we were about to start watching Wanderlust.
I had high expectations since I’m a fan of both Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd. But, the movie was pretty horrible. I’m surprised I stayed awake for all of it!
Sunday:
We woke up semi-early, had some coffee and breakfast, and then got ready for a hike.
We got Bhaiya a daypack for Fathers Day and I’m fairly confident it was well received. By Bhaiya and by the baby. I’m excited for him to start using it when we go on longer hikes and want to use his CamelBak or bring along some snacks with us! 🙂 In the words of Veer: “Papa going to school.”
We went to Toro County Park again, which was really convenient because 1) it’s 5 minutes from their house, 2) there are several trails (so it’s always something new for us to try!) and 3) there are multiple playgrounds (for Veer to play on the SLIDES!).
This little munchkin also climbed up a baby rock wall for the very first time.
Since Toro Park didn’t have any swings, we decided to make a little detour to their neighborhood playground.
Like father, like son.
When we got home, Bhaiya fired up the grill AGAIN to cook some AMAZING turkey burgers. These were surprisingly even better than the burgers we had on Saturday (which is crazy because those were pretty fantastic too!)
He also made some chicken kebabs, but the turkey burgers stole the show.
After lunch, we food prepped a bit. I was in charge of making the Zoodles. Oodles and oodles of zoodles.
Just an FYI: Making zoodles is an excellent upper body workout. No jokes.
And, soon after, we packed up the car and drove back to San Jose. Hema had a 9:30 flight to catch and, since traffic back from their area has been pretty awful on Sundays, we decided to play it safe and leave by 5. And no stop at Barn Fresh Produce this time around. They must have missed me! 😉
When I got home, I quickly changed and drove up to Mountain View to watch Lady Antebellum in concert!
I wasn’t 100% keen on going since I knew I’d be rushing (and I hate rushing on Sundays!), but I’m so glad I ended up going. It was a ton of fun! 🙂
What does this week have in store for me?
- Tuesday – Roommate dinner. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Beth. I saw her for a brief moment yesterday before the concert, but I’m excited to have some quality time with her! We have so much to catch up on!
- Wednesday – Rocketship Celebration of Schools. This is a network wide event and I’m excited to celebrate the end of the school year with some of my favorite people.
- Thursday – Our school site is going wine tasting in the Santa Cruz Mountains for the day. It’s technically a work day. So I’m just viewing it as some ‘mandatory fun.’ I’m not complaining. 🙂
- Friday – LAST DAY OF WORK.
I’m trying to decide where I should celebrate my birthday (the 24th. In case you want to get a headstart on that present ordering) and when I should leave for DC. Our flight to Turkey flies out of DC on the 27th, so I’m debating whether I want to spend a few days in DC OR whether I just want to fly there and get moving. Maybe the cost of the ticket will decide for me…
Hope you all are having a great start to your work week! 🙂
Questions of the Day:
- What’s in store for you this week?
- What’s the last concert you went to?

The baby/kid rock walls are amazing! The last concert I went to was John Mayer last summer. I am seeing Billy Joel at Fenway next week, so excited!
