Our third wedding weekend has come to an end and we had so much fun at all the events. But I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t also looking forward to falling back to routine.
We’ve got two months straight of no traveling.
And I am here for it.
But, before I settle down and get too comfortable in the monotony of our days, please indulge me and look at the cutest boy in his cutest outfits at this weekend’s beautiful weekend.
Friday
On Friday morning, we met everyone for breakfast at the hotel and then from 10am-11am, we had dance practice. After, Sneha, Neal, and I took Rohan and Ishu to the Field Museum.
It was so fun watching these two interact and fall in love with each other over the course of the weekend. Ishu loved copying his Rohan Bhaiya in everything he did – from “roar”ing like a dinosaur to all his cool dance moves on the dance floor, Ishu giggled at everything his Bhaiya did.
After the museum, we came home to nap for a bit and then got ready to head to River Roast for the Welcome Dinner.
It was so nice to see everyone after so long. But, my favorite moment from the night – hands down – was when the keyboardist recognized Ishu’s fascination with all the instruments and pulled him behind the keyboard to teach him about all the buttons.
Saturday
We went and had breakfast with everyone again and did our dance practice. Shaun and Nisha actually got married back in 2020 so there was no wedding ceremony, only an evening reception. (Which was nice for all of us to not have everything squeezed together on one day).
So, after dance practice, we had a lot of down time. Mom and Dad went to the Hancock Building to get a glimpse of these Chicago views and do the Tilt. Ankur, Ishu, and I went to play at the playground to burn off some of Ishu’s never-ending energy.
Then, we went home and put Ishu down for a nap. He slept pretty long and hard. But lucky for him, he just has to roll outta bed and throw on some clothes and he’s the cutest one of us all, despite us spending an hour or more getting ready.
Him and Rohan took over the dance floor – even before the dancing officially got started. Running back and forth, throwing their jackets up in the air, shimmying and shrieking.
The rest of us participated in the family dance and were so relieved after it was over and remembered all our steps (Thank you, Sneha, for trying to organize this big, chaotic, chatty Indian fam).
I’m pretty sure Ishu’s going to be confused as heck when – next weekend – there is no wedding to attend. This has become the norm for him. Ha. But he went out with a bang. Falling asleep almost immediately in Ankur’s arms while waiting for our Uber.
I’m happy we had an extra day this weekend to rest and recuperate.
Ishu also gifted me with a 4-hour nap yesterday so I could get some work done. What a winner.
Thankful for such a happy weekend with our friends and family!
