One more day.
It’s my final day of summer. It doesn’t quite feel that way since pulling Ishu out of daycare. Despite the fact that I’m going to have to figure out a way to juggle both a full-time job and a baby (who is also very much a full-time job), I still feel as though our summer isn’t quite over. We’ve got a Labor day local trip on the books and there’s still good weather to be enjoyed!
The nanny hunt continues.
In the mean time, I take solace in the fact that so many people have managed to do this over the past year as everyone worked from home. “This” as in juggle both a family and work. I guess, in that way, I feel very lucky to be working from home this year. I can continue to grow professionally while also growing as a mama.
It’s been many years since we’ve all seen this footage on BBC. Where a news anchor was reporting from home and his kids walked in and interrupted the whole thing and it became quite the chaotic show.
Some people were judge-y when it first came out. Others thought it made him more human.
But, mostly, this clip is a reminder of who we are now. Cats on Zoom calls. Kids walking in the room. People not wearing pants to work meetings.
I mean, I don’t own a cat. And I WILL be wearing pants. But I CHOSE this job specifically because it allowed me to be flexible with Ishu.
We’re working on getting a part-time nanny or a mother’s helper for a few hours in the day when I do some direct testing and need the privacy. But, for the rest of it? He may just be that kid that confidently traipses into the room in the middle of a staff meeting. And that’s life.
And I guess I *can* lock the door when I need to.
This just might be the view if that’s the case. Ha. Little fingers under the door and a little voice saying, “NAW, NAW, MAMA” (Knock, knock Mama!).
I don’t presume it to be easy.
But it’s going to work. Because, well, it’s gotta.
Question of the Day:
How did you manage the pandemic? Did you work from home? Essential worker? Cats joining your Zoom calls?
Sandy says
The cutest baby! Love how his hand is sticking under the door. Muah!! xoxo
