We’re taking a sick day today because we can.
Ishu had a little runny nose last night.
And then woke up and the runny nose turned into a very mild cough.
But it feels like, on the days I can keep him home and get him to nap here, and do the steam baths and humidifier throughout the day, he gets over it faster.
Or at least that’s what I tell myself.
And with my job, it makes it real easy to do that.
So, we’re doing that.
He’s currently cuddled to my side, watching Curious George, wearing hand socks, and the humidifier is sitting to his other side.
I can’t even explain how fortunate I feel in these moments to be able to adapt and be flexible to what he needs. I know how hard it is for so many other families to figure out childcare (and it’s precisely why so many kiddos in his class show up with a runny nose. It’s not easy to take a day off work!).
I know I want to return to a brick-and-mortar school soon. AND I also love the flexibility this job offers. Especially in this phase of life. Especially because we don’t really have a Plan B or a Plan C if Ishu gets sick. If we lived near family, that’d be one thing. But we don’t. So the ability to change my schedule around to accommodate for a sick day is something I don’t take for granted.
We almost made it through 2 straight weeks of school with no interruption! ALMOST. I am going to take that as a win. Ha.
Going to pump this kiddo with all the good, nutrient-dense stuff today (or as much as he’ll allow). And give him all the snuggles.
Hope you have a happy Friday. Stay healthy!
