Auntie Bella is coming to Chicago this weekend and we are so excited to see her. On the walk to school this morning, Ishu and I were talking about it.
I reminded him that Auntie Bella would be here tomorrow and maybe she’d even come pick him up from school.
He asked, “Do you have your phone?”
I was confused, but answered, “Yes.”
“Okay, call her. Call her and ask,” he said.
I laughed. “I can’t call her right now. It’s still early. Her job starts later.” And then we got to talking about how her and Uncle Tony both have new jobs in New York. That’s why they left Chicago.
“And Spirit too?” he asked.
“Well, Spirit’s a cat, so Spirit stays at their house all day. No job for Spirit,” I smiled.
“I really want Spirit to come to Chicago,” he said.
“Yeah, I know that’d be fun. But you know Mama is allergic to cats,” I responded.
“Yeah, you’re allergic. But I think cats are SO CUTE,” he smiled.
“We can’t get a cat any time soon, but maybe when you’re a grown up and you live in your own house, you can get a cat,” I offered.
“Yeah, maybe when I’m older and you’re dead,” Ishu responded casually.
Fabulous.
I love you too, little guy.
