It’s our last full day here in Hawaii and I’m not ready to say goodbye.
I looked up the weather forecast in Chicago. It’s thunder-storming for the first half of next week. So, really trying my best to FEEL THE SUN burn into my skin before hopping on a plane to sit under the rain.
I’m typing this sitting at the kitchen table in our rental. I can see the palm trees swaying in the wind. I can hear the waves crashing against the rocks right below us. The ocean is so many different shades of blue and, right across the ocean, 15-20 miles away, I can see the island of Moloka’i. (I read one of my favorite books ever, Moloka’i many, many years ago and it feels pretty exciting that I can see the island now off at a distance).
In just a little bit, we’re going to get out and go explore Lahaina a little bit.
Just thought I’d pop on here while everyone’s resting to share some more pictures from yesterday. Ishu’s first luau experience! (<– I made a fun reel on Instagram. Because it’s way more fun to watch clips when there’s hula music playing in the background).
Ankur booked us all tickets for a luau and I’m SO glad he did. It was fun to take advantage of the full Hawaiian experience. Ishu got to get on stage at one point to do some hula dancing lessons. He struggled to figure out how to put his hands on his hips (and keep them there, ha!), but I’m pretty sure he was the cutest little hula dancer up there.
It was fun to watch the beautiful dancing and see the story unfold before us. And my favorite, of course, was the knife fire dance at the end. Ishu was pretty enthralled during that (which is saying a lot because it was far past his bedtime!).
Everything else was captured in the reel. (And, just for funsies, check out these two reels – part 1 and part 2 – that Ishu managed to make without me knowing. He’s already a social media master).
Now we’re off to go soak up the last bit of our vacation!
Have a good one!
