Happy Monday! I say that with very little enthusiasm. Don’t be fooled by the exclamation point. Let’s relive the past two days, shall we?
Saturday:
Jen and I were on a mission to hike under some redwoods. After an hour and a half of driving, some windy roads, and a REALLY wonderful case of that car sickness stuff, we found ourselves at Huddart Park in Woodside.
Luckily, the nauseous-ness wore off real fast and we were able to enjoy a 4-mile hike.
It was pretty quiet for being a Saturday morning. We came across a few horseback riders, runners, and banana slugs.
After our hike, we picked up some snacks from a small deli and drove up to Mountain Winery to use our passports. It was my first time there, but hopefully not my last. They have concerts throughout the year and I really want to go to one since the venue is so small and cozy. Last year, they had Boyz II Men. And Colbie Caillat. And I guess Bill Cosby performed last year too. Before all the things.
Later in the evening, I introduced Julia to BananaGrams. She wasn’t as big of a fan as I am.
Probably because I’m obsessive and scare people away from the game.
Sunday:
Brunch Bunch does berry booze.
Brunch Bunch does Burger Bar.
I’m all out of alliteration, folks.
But my most favorite part of the weekend (which was surprising to me since I had to drive up to SF on a SUNDAY NIGHT) was our Woodsey Wine and Dine Dinner. The intent of Woodsey Wine and Dine is to connect people with other UniCamp alumni in their area.
We did Pizza Night. Because duh.
After assembling our pizzas and catching up with one another, we did an adult version of UniCamp’s “Grace.” Adult because, instead of water, we guzzled wine.
We chatted about everything but, for obvious reasons, the conversations would eventually lead back to camp. “Enchilada surprise” was definitely discussed at length.
But, in all seriousness, our conversation and our ability to connect after not seeing one another for so long is just so reflective of how special camp is. The fact that the “Woodsey Magic” still remains – even 10 years after my very first training meeting – illustrates just how life-altering and impactful this organization is. Camp seriously breeds the best kind of human. I am so lucky to have been a part of it.
